Hollywood television and movie star Frankie Muniz, who is best known for playing the title character in the FOX sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, is set to compete full-time in NASCAR Truck Series in 2025. He revealed his next racing career plans in an interview with FOX And Friends on Tuesday (October 22).
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Frankie Muniz shared his excitement about pursuing a full-time NASCAR Truck Series career in 2025, describing it as a long-standing dream of his of racing in NASCAR’s national series.
Expressing his feeling about joining NASCAR Truck Series as full-time driver, here's what Muniz said:
“I don't want to say it's a long time coming, but this has been a dream of mine for forever.”
Describing his passion for NASCAR, Muniz said:
“I started with doing the open wheel route. I thought I was going to go IndyCar, kind of the Formula 1 route, but I always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to try NASCAR. I wanted to do it. I grew up watching NASCAR. I was a huge fan, but it's not something I necessarily thought that I'd ever get the opportunity to do.”
The 38-year-old New Jersey driver will drive the #33 Ford F-150 for Reaume Brothers Racing. He will make his full-time debut in the season’s opening race at Daytona International Speedway in February, marking a new chapter in his racing career.
Frankie Muniz, who grew up as a race fan and has been driving competitively since 2006, told PEOPLE that competing full-time in one of NASCAR’s top three national series is exciting, but he knows that he still has a lot to prove to himself.
Frankie Muniz is not new to NASCAR
The announcement came after Frankie Muniz participated in the ARCA Series in 2023, where he showcased his racing skills, scoring one top-five finish and 11 top-10 finishes and finishing fourth in the final standings. He will look to continue his ARCA success in NASCAR.
Since joining Ford Performance, actor-turned-racer has made limited starts in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Truck Series. He has competed in two Truck Series races this season, where he finished 31st and 29th at Nashville Superspeedway and Kansas Speedway in the #22 entry for Reaume Brothers Racing.
Meanwhile, he also competed in three Xfinity Series events, at Daytona International Speedway, Phoenix Raceway, and Portland International Raceway, behind the wheel of the #35 Joey Gase Motorsports Ford.
It will be interesting to see how Muniz fares in his first NASCAR full-time season.
