The 28-year-old NASCAR racer had a rollercoaster season this year. After suffering a compression fracture of a lower vertebra during a multi-car collision on Talladega Superspeedway, Jones missed the races at Dover and Kansas.

However, the Michigan-based driver made a decent comeback at Darlington Raceway, finishing in 19th position with 18 points. With feedback from Jones, Legacy Motor Club made changes to his #43 Toyota Camry for an increased comfort level.________________________________________________________________

Erik Jones' 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season so far

After a dismal season last year, Erik Jones aimed for a better result in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign. The Legacy Motor Club driver began the season on a positive note.

He finished the first two races in the Top 5s and Top 10s, respectively (fifth in Duel 1 at DAYTONA, and eighth in Daytona International Speedway).

Since then, Jones has been unable to maintain the momentum. The Michigan-based driver finished every race after the Daytona 500 outside of the top 10 places.

His worst performance came at Phoenix Raceway, where, despite starting in fourth position, he managed to end the race in 31st position.

At Talladega Superspeedway, the #43 racer got involved in a multi-car incident on lap 156. The crash sent Jones' Camry nose-first into the SAFER barrier on the outside wall.

He sustained a fractured vertebra in his lower back and was admitted to a local hospital in Birmingham. Due to the severity of the injuries, Jones missed the next two races at Dover Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway.

After getting the green signal from doctors, Jones got back behind the wheel at Darlington Raceway, where he finished in 19th place. As of now, he has amassed 228 points in the course of 15 races this season and is currently standing in 26th position in the driver's championship.
