Former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace reflected on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which occurred on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Wallace described the event as "very upsetting."

Former President Trump was shot during a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, sustaining injuries to his right ear. The shooting resulted in the death of one audience member and critically injured two others.

Kenny Wallace opened his Coffee with Kenny show by acknowledging the incident. He described the entire turn of events over the weekend as very upsetting and, hence, refrained from making any comments during the weekend.

"It's been very upsetting two days with the assassination attempt on former President Trump. Been lying a little quiet, didn't feel like talking and the coast is clear now and the show must go on...," Wallace said before continuing with his scheduled program.

Meanwhile, Kaulig Racing president Chris Rice was shocked to learn about the assassination attempt. He expressed his thoughts on the ex-president's well-being and asked people to discard their political inclinations and pray for Trump on a humanitarian basis.

"Praying for Trump!! Unreal to me!! I don’t care who you vote for we should be praying!!"

Donald Trump, 78, was rushed to the hospital after the shooting, with reports from the Secret Service confirming that he was safe and recovering from the injuries.

Former NASCAR champion speaks out on President Trump's assassination attempt

Ahead of the NASCAR Cup race at Pocono Raceway, 2012 Cup champion Brad Keselowski spoke out on the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, citing that the senseless act of violence was detrimental to the nation's democracy.

Keselowski remarked that these are "fragile times" for the nation and urged people, regardless of political beliefs, to set aside their differences and pray for peace and understanding. The veteran NASCAR driver wrote on X:

"Regardless of political beliefs, this is bad for democracy. We are living in fragile times as it seems our great nation is struggling," Keselowski's statement read.
"I'm praying tonight for peace and understanding. For my blue and red family and friends, for our sons and daughters, and beyond, may they be blessed to inherit a great nation that overcomes senseless violence," he added.

During a weekend filled with political unrest, Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Cup race at Pocono Raceway, with Brad Keselowski managing a seventh-place finish.

Having recorded his second win of the season, Blaney occupies seventh place in the regular season standings, while Keselowski placed at ninth.
