NASCAR has recently released its schedule for the 2025 Cup Series Campaign, along with the breakdown of broadcast rights. A NASCAR insider shared the update on social media, which has left fans frustrated with the schedule, and pointed out that there was a lack of coherence in the distribution of broadcast rights.
The 2025 Cup Series will start at Bowman Gray Stadium for the highly anticipated Clash on February 2. The entire schedule is split between six different channels that hold broadcast rights. The new media rights agreement also allowed Amazon Prime to stream a few races in the 2025 campaign. Of the 38 events, the first four races after the All-Star will be streamed on Prime Video, and four races are scheduled on a Saturday.
Upon being informed of this update by NASCAR Insider Danielle Trotta on X, several fans expressed their disagreement with the Cup Series schedule in the comments section, focusing on the system that was being followed to broadcast the races.
"@NASCAR has been with FOX for decades and gets these crappy start times and FS1. FOX gets IndyCar and gives them all the noon start times on the FOX mothership. What’s up with that????????????" a fan wrote.
"I hate that they won’t just sell me a streaming app with all the races so I have one place to watch NASCAR," another fan expressed.
"NASCAR missed such an opportunity to broadcast the races themselves. They have the app for it. All they need were announcers," another fan wrote.
"Remember when all the races started at 1 pm and we could plan our Sunday around nascar? What a dumb idea to have staggering start times," a fan commented.
"NASCAR needs to make a network that everyone gets to watch these races to me it’s such an inconvenience to figure out what channel is doing practice/qualifying and the race," a fan suggested.
Meanwhile, one particular fan shared their disapproval of Phoenix Raceway being chosen as the venue for the Championship race.
"I absolutely hate Phoenix as the Championship Race. Goofy configuration with off/on track corner that is impossible to navigate correctly. Also, the championship should be in the southeast, where NASCAR has its roots," the fan said.
The Cup Series regular season will start with the Daytona 500 on February 16, and will exclusively be streamed on FOX at 2:30 PM ET.
NASCAR brings F1 Las Vegas GP executive for Vice President’s role
NASCAR recently announced a change in higher management, bringing in F1 Las Vegas executive Craig Stimmel as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Stimmel has come in to replace Daryl Wolfe, former SVP and CRO of NASCAR.
Stern reported that change has been made to tackle the sponsorship battle that NASCAR faces amidst the rise in popularity of Formula One. Sharing the article where he discussed the big move made in detail, he wrote on X:
"@NASCAR's new chief commercial officer will be based in New York City, where industry executives think the series needs more of a presence amid 's hot streak with selling sponsorships."
Stimmel will reportedly receive the Senior Vice President rank and one of his key responsibilities will be to oversee all the sales of NASCAR holdings.
