The 16th and the final race of the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finally concluded. The Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 started at 8 pm ET on Saturday, October 26, at Martinsville Speedway, with a total of 23 entries.
Justin Bonsignore, driving the #51 car for Kenneth Massa Motorsports, secured his fifth victory of the season and the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship in a dominant fashion. He emerged victorious after beating Matt Hirschman in the final laps to the checkered flag at the 0.526-mile oval track.
The 36-year-old New York native dominated the majority of the race and crossed the finish line by an impressive margin of 4.897 seconds, ahead of Hirschman. It marked his third consecutive win and 45th career win in the series. This championship marked Bonsignore’s fourth title (2018, 2020, 2021, 2024).
Reflecting on a dominating season, Bonsignore in a victory lane said (via Short Track Scene):
“A year of hard work, a lot of ups and downs, the middle of September wasn’t looking good, all of a sudden we got hot. Three in a row is something I’ve never done in my career, and to cap it off with a Grandfather Clock is just really awesome.”
Meanwhile, Matt Hirschman finished runner-up, followed by Jacob Lutz, Austin Beers, and Ryan Newman in the top five. Craig Lutz, Luke Baldwin, Bobby Labonte, Andrew Krause, and Patrick Emerling completed the top 10.
