NASCAR fans were over the moon following the announcement of NASCAR's new game: NASCAR 25's official release in 2025. The game is reportedly a joint endeavor by NASCAR, iRacing, and Motorsport Games Inc. Reacting to the announcement, the fans demanded that the game trailer be released as soon as possible.
Earlier, iRacing Vice President Steve Myers had said on X (formerly Twitter) that even if the best developers on the team worked relentlessly while designing a console for the game, releasing it would not be possible before 2047. Thankfully, the fans will not have to wait that long.
Thrilled to make the announcement, Matt Lewis, production director at iRacing said,
"NASCAR 25, honestly, is the game we all have always wanted to build. We've talked a lot about other team members, and how we've all sort of overlapped and crisscrossed our career, but the ability to finally sort of put all the pieces together, take all the core elements of what makes all of our teams great and really deliver the game that we've always wanted to make even in 20-25 years ago, is amazing for me."
"It almost feels like a full-circle moment. It's super special to put this team together," Lewis added.
Several fans reacted to the exciting news, with one urging iRacing to release the trailer.
"Give us the damn trailer already," the fan said.
Another fan found the news too good to be true and remarked,
"Do not play with my emotions is this real?"
Here are some other reactions to the announcement of iRacing releasing the long-awaited game in 2025:
"I just feel really confident they’re gunna deliver a great game," a fan wrote.
"Cool, now release it before the nascar season starts not in the middle when playoffs r going on👍," another said.
"Coming for mobile too?" a fan wondered.
While there is no official statement regarding the consoles the game will be available on, according to reports from "The Daily Downforce", the game is likely to feature on common platforms like PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X.
Motorsports Games sold NASCAR's gaming license to iRacing
Motorsports Games purchased NASCAR's exclusive sim-gaming license back in 2018, owing to which, fans have had the opportunity to experience games like 'NASCAR Heat 5' and 'NASCAR Rivals'. These simulation-style NASCAR games are currently available on the official site of Motorsports Games.
Last year, 704Games, a subsidiary of Motorsports Games, sold the license to iRacing, which was duly approved by NASCAR Team Properties (NTP). Following the transaction, iRacing started developing 'NASCAR 25'. Talking about the deal, iRacing President, Tony Gardner said (via NASCAR.com),
"When we were approached with the option to acquire the license for the simulation-style NASCAR console game, which was the console game and franchise that we were dreaming about doing, it was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up," iRacing President Tony Gardner said in a statement (via NASCAR) "Having the ability to build a NASCAR console game is a privilege we promise to execute with the utmost care."
"We look forward to working diligently with NASCAR industry stakeholders to deliver a product that provides an amazing experience for the gaming community and NASCAR fans worldwide," Gardner added.
iRacing's liaison with NASCAR dates back to 2010. Today, iRacing is the official simulation partner of NASCAR. iRacing organizes several simulation-based races for NASCAR, including the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series, which was won by Bobby Zalenski last year. The prize money for the event was a whopping $100,000.
