Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch extended his support for Noah Lyles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Lyles is taking part in the Men's 100m sprint, representing the USA in the French capital.
NASCAR recently shared a video on their social media. In the clip, Busch wished Lyles for his upcoming event in the 2024 Olympics. The first semi-final in the Men's 100m is scheduled later today. Kyle Busch said in the clip:
"Hey, I'm Kyle Busch, NASCAR driver. From one guy who knows speed to another, I'm wishing Noah Lyles from Men's Track and Field the best of luck. Go get em' over there in Paris."
The US currently has the most medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics. They have bagged a total of 64, consisting of 14 gold, 25 silver, and 25 bronze. In the tally, they are placed second, with China taking first place with 18 gold medals.
Kyle Busch meanwhile, looks a little short this season as the NASCAR playoffs get closer. With four races to go, the #8 Chevrolet driver stands in 19th place, 112 points off Ross Chastain on the borderline in 16th place. If he does not manage to qualify, this would be the first time in over a decade without Busch making it in the top 16.
The driver has won only three races since he left Toyota after the 2022 season. Recently, Toyota's Racing Development president shared his view on Busch leaving the team.
"We take a big hit": David Wilson opens up on their split with Kyle Busch
Busch leaving the Toyota Racing Development (with Joe Gibbs Racing) after a 15-year stint was a major change on the NASCAR grid. It was speculated that the declining support from sponsors was one of the reasons the driver decided to split.
While Busch does not look very competitive with RCR currently, Toyota's Racing Development President David Wilson mentioned that the team suffered a great loss with the driver leaving. He said:
“Obviously, for Toyota, losing Kyle in a run through a championship is a massive setback, Kyle Busch is money in the playoffs… By losing him, we take a big hit. There’s zero upside. There’s zero upside. It’s just a crushing blow to our organization,” Wilson said.
The current season looks a little tough for Busch as he hasn't managed to gain a victory. Considering his points, he has finished six times in the top 10 so far, which does not put him in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs.
