23XI Racing recently announced that they will not be signing the new charter agreement, citing NASCAR's unwavering stance on their demands. NASCAR has been in conversation with teams about the new charter deal, which will come into existence starting from the 2025 season.

Recent reports suggest that NASCAR set a deadline for the teams to sign the new charter agreement prior to the start of the playoffs in Atlanta. However, as reported by the Washington Post, all but two teams have agreed to sign the deal. NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and active Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin owned 23XI Racing expressed their refusal to sign the new agreement, as shared by Bob Pockrass on X.

"Just negotiation tactic, I’m sure everything will be fine going into next year. Denny just wants more say or certain leverage that NASCAR doesn’t want to give. It’ll Eventually all work out," a fan claimed.
"Am I the only one looking at this from the angle of NASCAR can not afford to lose MJ from the sport, you can put a big part of NASCAR'S resurrection on him joining the sport. My opinion, 23XI has bargaining power there and don't need to bend or fold," a fan expressed

"Hope there not the only one need a Hendrick or a Gibbs standing with them No show without them," another fan wrote.
"More teams need to stand up to nascar. id love to see a weekend where all the teams refused to race. nascar would finally start to listen to em," another fan expressed.

Negotiations surrounding the new charter agreement have ignited controversy within NASCAR, as tensions between teams and the organization escalate. Originally anticipated to be finalized earlier this year, the agreement remains unresolved. According to reports, NASCAR has proposed a clause allowing the France family to purchase charters and another suggesting that permanent charters may not be offered, further complicating the deal and contributing to disagreements.

23XI Racing most likely to expand despite Toyota's probable engine scarcity as per NASCAR insider

23XI Racing's #45 driver Tyler Reddick claimed the regular season championship, besting Hendrick Motorsports' Kyle Larson by a mere point. As reported by Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass, the team led by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin may be considering securing another charter, potentially expanding their operations to field three teams in the Cup Series.

RFK Racing, co-owned by Brad Keselowski has also been linked to a new charter purchase; however, no formal statement has been issued by the team or Keselowski.

In a recent post on X, Pockrass responded to a curious fan inquiring about the situation.

"23XI will still most likely expand as far as I can tell," Pockrass wrote.

If RFK Racing decides to purchase another charter, it would directly influence 23XI's decision to do the same. Additionally, 23XI Racing is powered by Toyota engines, and recent reports indicate that TRD (Toyota Racing Development) may not have adequate resources to support another entry if Jordan's team acquires another charter.
