Stewart Haas Racing (SHR) drivers have commented on their plans for NASCAR's two-week break, that has been facilitated by the commencement of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Founded in 2009, SHR has grabbed three drivers' championships and 100 race wins across all three NASCAR divisions, with two titles and 65 wins in the Cup Series. Notable drivers like Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick, and Kurt Busch have driven for this prestigious team.
Stewart Hass Racing currently runs six drivers across NASCAR. Josh Berry, Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, and Ryan Preece run in the Cup Series, while Cole Custer and Riley Herbst run in the Xfinity Series. The team is co-owned by NASCAR veteran Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, CEO of Haas Automation. Haas also runs a team in Formula One.
In a recent post on SHR's Instagram handle, all SHR drivers besides Chase Briscoe revealed their plans for NASCAR's two-week break.
Here's what they had to say, starting with Josh Berry, their #4 driver:
"The first week, I'm running the CARS Tour race at Hickory for KHI, and then the second week we're going to Florida."
"I'm going to California for the break then probably go golf in Vegas, and then I've got a wedding to go to," said Noah Gragson
Cole Custer had some exciting news to share about his first son's birth, he said:
"Over the break, I am planning on relaxing a little bit, but me and wife Kari are also expecting our first son. We're really excited about that and hopefully everything goes to plan, and we'll have a kid by the end of it."
"I am going overseas to go spend some time with my family on a trip, so that should be fun, looking forward to it," Riley Herbst said.
This is what Ryan Preece has planned:
"During the Olympic break, I'm going to go back up to Connecticut, we're going to visit some family on the first week. The second week, we are going to the outer banks. I don't think Heather and I have been on vacation in probably 8 years, so we're going to take a week and disconnect."
SHR is in its final year in NASCAR and will be exiting the sport at the end of the season. Their best finish in the Cup Series this season came via Chase Briscoe at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. During the break, SHR will be looking to gear up for a resurgence in the remaining four regular season races.
Josh Berry set to join WBR following SHR's closure
Josh Berry was in his rookie season in the Cup Series, and SHR's closure threw a wrench in the works. However, Wood Brothers Racing recently announced Berry as a driver for the 2025 season.
He will pilot the #21 Ford Mustang in the Cup Series for Wood Brothers Racing in the 2025 season. In a recent press conference, WBR discussed why Berry was their driver of choice (via Claire B Lang on X):
"What I mean, it's nice to be on the same thing. Josh said we had to come to the face first because he had a relationship with Ford Motor Company...But we had Josh in the background line anyway. And everything unfolded like it did."
