Retired NASCAR star Danica Patrick recently spoke at a rally for former United States President and Republican Party nominee for the 2024 presidential election Donald Trump. An avid supporter of the country's 45th President, the former Cup Series driver said the U.S. is living not in a Republican versus Democrat world in this year's upcoming election, but a good versus evil one.

The 42-year-old, who said she's voting in a U.S. presidential election for the first time in her life, stood at the podium of Trump's rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania on Sunday, just two days before the election. In her speech, the former Daytona 500 pole sitter said she wants to live in a country where she can wear clothing that expresses how much she loves her country without it being seen as a political stand for the Republican Party.

The Wisconsin native recalled wearing a leather jacket that had an American flag on the back and "USA" written on the sleeves when she was a kid. Patrick said if she wore that jacket today, she'd be viewed as making a political statement and questioned why that's happening.

"Why is that not just being an American? We’re not living in a time of Republican-Democrat, we’re living in good versus evil, we're living in right versus wrong." [0:31 onwards]

Patrick went on to say that she wants to be on the right side of history and believes she will be if she votes for Trump instead of his political opponent in Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party. The former IndyCar Series racer added:

"This is the most important decision that we will see in our life, is getting Donald Trump into office."

Danica Patrick explained why she's voting for the first time in a recent interview

In an interview with FOX News' Jesse Waters, Danica Patrick explained why this year's presidential election will be her first time voting. Because racing took up so much of her time, Patrick said she never got the chance to even understand how politics works.

That changed this year as Patrick went on to say she's watched a lot of news on television and attended an AmFest, where conservative political activist Charlie Kirk spoke. After being at the event and posting to social media about how she loved the United States, Patrick was confused as to why saying something such as "Make America Great Again," which is Donald Trump's campaign slogan, is a bad thing, adding:

“I am passionate because it feel like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason, it’s like the rational, reasonable choice. I feel like most of all though, what this country could be if he gets into office— with all of the amazing, brilliant people that are supporting him— I feel like it could not only make America great again, but make America greater than it’s ever been.” [1:58 onwards]

Apart from politics, Patrick has made sporadic appearances as a racing analyst for both FOX Sports and NBC Sports since retiring from full-time Cup Series competition in 2018. While she never won a race, Patrick broke barriers for women in NASCAR, including becoming the first female to lead a lap in a Cup race.
