Front Row Motorsports recently announced Zane Smith as its new driver in the newly formed third charter for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Smith will rejoin the Bob Jenkins-owned team after completing his rookie Cup season with Spire Motorsports last year, piloting the No. 38 Ford Mustang.

After a big win in the antitrust lawsuit battle, which allowed a preliminary injunction and acquiring a charter from the now-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing, FRM completed NASCAR's premier division lineup.

In a press release by FRM, the Huntington Beach, California native Smith opened up on his thoughts on returning to FRM, with whom he had previously won a Truck Series championship in the 2022 season and secured six wins.

"I’ve always felt at home with Front Row Motorsports," said Zane Smith. "They believed in me when I signed with them to race in the Truck Series initially in 2022 and we shared so much success together, winning six races and a championship in two seasons. Unfortunately, everyone had to make tough decisions because there were only two Cup cars available at Front Row Motorsports going into last season when I was ready to move up full-time."

Smith made his full-time debut with Spire Motorsports and managed four top-1- finishes, including a runner-up finish at the 2024 Nashville Superspeedway race.

The 25-year-old Smith will join Todd Gilliland and fellow new arrival Noah Gragson on the Ford roster. He continued:

"Now, going into next year, Front Row has really taken their Cup program to another level and I cannot think of a better line up of teammates. Todd and Noah are great friends of mine and we all have a lot to prove as young drivers in the Cup Series. It is a great time to come back and continue to build my career with an organization where I know I can win."

"We have confidence in Zane Smith": FRM owner Bob Jenkins shared his thoughts on the young driver joining the Ford roster

Before making his full-time debut in the Cup Series, Zane Smith competed in the NASCAR Truck Series for almost nine years. In his stint driving the trucks, Smith amassed a total of nine wins and 61 top tens.

In the same press release, the owner of Front Row Motorsports, Bob Jenkins, expressed his thoughts about the young driver bagging a full-time ride with the Ford roster. He said:

"We want to welcome Zane back to Front Row Motorsports. "He brought us our first championship and we believe that he can win in the NASCAR Cup Series, too. We have always believed in his talents, and we will work hard to give him what he needs to be successful. We have confidence in Zane Smith.

Furthermore, Jenkins added:

"This finalizes our drivers for 2025 in the Cup Series and we can now make all our teams as strong as possible. We have come a long way, but there is a lot more ground to make up, too. We now have the drivers who can build on where we are today and take us to the next level."

It is worth mentioning that before moving to Spire full-time, Zane Smith competed in the 2023 Cup Series season with FRM albeit on a part-time basis and had a best finish of tenth place at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
