A few days after splitting with AM Racing earlier this month, Hailie Deegan has secured another racing stint with Nitro Motorsports. The Temecula native would be seen taming a Team SLR-M1 at the SpeedTour All-Star Race hosted by Lime Rock Park.
After battling in the Truck Series for three seasons, Hailie Deegan inked a multi-year deal with AM Racing and marked her rookie Xfinity Series this year. However, the best she could produce from 17 races was a 12th-place finish at the Talladega Superspeedway.
On the other hand, part-time NXS driver for the #15 Ford, Joey Logano replaced Deegan and came home with an eighth-place finish on his first Xfinity race at the Chicago Street Course. The Monday following the race weekend saw the news about Hailie Deegan and AM Racing's contract termination do the rounds in the community.
As her NASCAR career is halted until further developments, the 23-year-old joined hands with Nitro Motorsports for the Trans AM All-Star Race. She will team up with Ben Maier, and the duo will battle for victory, which brings a $50000 winner-takes-all prize money with the trophy for the race-winning team.
The Mooresville-based outfit welcomed Hailie Deegan and shared the news about her Trans AM Race with teammate Ben Maier on Instagram.
"Another driving duo this weekend...Welcome to the team @hailiedeegan. Looking forward to seeing what you and @BenMaier67 can accomplish!" the team captioned.
"It's truly me that knows the whole story" - Hailie Deegan's cryptic take on her AM Racing exit
Before landing in the Statesville-based outfit's garage, Hailie Deegan stinted for SS Green Light Racing in the Xfinity Series at the 2022 Las Vegas Motor Speedway race. On her debut NXS run, she posted a 13th-place finish while keeping her #7 Ford on the lead lap. With that, she became the best female debutant at the Xfinity level.
However, she couldn't replicate her form in her first full-time season and failed to end her streak of disappointing results. Moreover, her #15 Ford succumbed to three DNFs- at the season-opener Daytona race, the Xfinity Series race at Phoenix, and in the spring race at the Darlington Raceway.
Hailie Deegan's season didn't turn out how she expected, and a few days after getting replaced by Logano at Chicago, she cited that her goals didn't align with AM Racing, following which such a move was initiated.
"Beginning this season, I had a lot of excitement and hope in taking my next step in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It’s something I’ve been working towards for years and always dreamt about. I worked hard to prepare for this season after the team pursued me to drive their car. Unfortunately, it has not turned out the way that I expected. There are always several reasons within a race team as to why things do or do not work, but sadly our goals no longer align,” an excerpt from Deegan's note read via X.
But before concluding her parting note, the three-time Lucas Oil Off Road Pro Series champion shared a cryptic message regarding the real reason behind her exit.
"It's truly me that knows the whole story and what I need to succeed," she wrote.
Apart from her Trans AM race, Deegan could be seen in an IndyCar, as per NASCAR insider David Land.
