Hailie Deegan has been plying her trade in Indy NXT after her NASCAR exit with AM Racing. The 23-year-old female racer could not emulate her ARCA and Truck Series form in the Xfinity series. However, she has been working hard physically to keep herself in shape for her new venture with HMD Motorsports in 2025.
Like many others learn from their past mistakes, Deegan is no different. The former Xfinity driver shared one "terrible decision" she will never make en route to her gym sessions in the future.
Hailie Deegan wrote on her Snapchat:
"Walked outside this morning and it was pretty cold. Decided to wear a sweatshirt to the gym. Terrible decision, never doing that again".
She has been very active on her Snapchat and consistently shares her daily routines and adventures like karting, dirt riding, traveling, and more.
Deegan also starred in Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s podcast Dirty Mo Media and talked about how her Indy move came into effect.
"I'm decent friends with some of the guys on the IndyCar side": Hailie Deegan on Dale Jr.'s podcast
Hailie Deegan was the special guest on the Speed Street podcast with Conor Daly. The former Xfinity driver talked about what persuaded her to try Indy NXT and more. She parted ways with AM Racing mid-way through the Xfinity Series after a poor run of results.
Joey Logano replaced her for the Watkins Glen Xfinity race whilst Deegan was still contracted with AM Racing. Deegan told Daly about having childhood friends in the Indy circuit and how her move unfolded. She said:
"I feel like I'm decent friends with some of the guys on the IndyCar side. Let's go to the IndyCar race at Iowa (in August). Let's go check it out. Why not."
She also talked about her road course strengths and how she could use that to her advantage in her new challenge.
"I like high grip stuff. I like tracks (that are) wide open a lot. I love road courses. Besides past year, some of my best runs have been on road coarses."
"Maybe we should really look at this avenue."
The California-born driver is looking forward to her new challenge. But she will have to adapt quickly to riding a car with no windshield and open cockpits, among other stuff. Deegan has enjoyed success in dirt racing before.
Despite her Xfinity venture not yielding the desired results, can Hailie Deegan finally find her place in Indy NXT?
