NASCAR driver Toni Breidinger recently opened up on her plans for 2025 along with issues faced by female drivers in a male-dominated sport. She also shared her opinion on Hailie Deegan's abrupt exit from the Xfinity Series this year.
After beginning her racing career in karting, Breidinger progressed into stock car racing in 2018 in the ARCA Menards Series. Since then, the young driver has been making a mark in the sport. After impressive performances in NASCAR's touring car division, she was offered a part-time seat in the Craftsman Truck Series with Tricon Garage in the 2023 season.
However, it has not been smooth sailing for the 25-year-old Californian racer. During her recent outing at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Breidinger had an on-track run-in with Lawless Alan. Alan is allegedly known for his biased behavior against female racers. He hit the side of Breidinger's #25 Toyota, sending her into the outside wall and ending her race.
Breidinger discussed this incident among other topics during an interview with Heavy.com:
“So I honestly wasn’t all that surprised and more frustrated with myself than mad at him. So it’s like, I don’t know, kind of expected something like that and I kind of put myself in that position by getting a bad restart. But yeah, I’ve definitely seen this stuff with him and Hailie (Deegan)," she said, speaking about Alan after the race.
Apart from discussing the history between Deegan and Alan, Toni Breidinger also reacted to the former's abrupt dismissal from AM Racing in the middle of the Xfinity Series.
“Hopefully Hailie gets her ride back. But yeah, kind of disappointing. I hate to see that. So pretty bummed for her,” Breidinger responded.
The Venturini Motorsports driver also spoke highly of Toyota's driver development program and how it has been crucial in shaping her (and Deegan's) career.
"I'm tired of watching these guys just wreck these girls" - Kenny Wallace commented in support of Toni Breidinger after the IRP race
Toni Breidinger, an upcoming NASCAR talent, was looking at her first Top 5 finish of the season in the Circle City 200 race at Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 19th. However, she had to settle for a 24th-place finish after a clash with Lawless Alan wrecked her #25 Toyota on lap 172.
Following the incident, NASCAR Hall of Famer and legendary racer Kenny Wallace came out in support of the young California-based racer via a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:
"MY RESPONSE to the guys always wrecking the girls 🏁"
"In the ARCA race, Tony Breidinger, the girl, was doing great and a guy got loose and ran into her and wrecked her, destroyed her. So he got loose and he wrecked her," Wallace said, explaining the incident (0:14 onwards).
"I'm tired of watching these guys just wreck these girls, because that girl (Breidinger), she was doing a good job. I've had her on Kenny Conversation," he added, supporting Toni Breidinger (0:48 onwards).
Wallace also posted a similar response for Hailie Deegan after her abrupt exit from AM Racing in the Xfinity Series.
