RFK Racing revealed Ryan Preece's 'hints' that he had been dropping on social media before the team's announcement to sign him for the 2025 season. Preece remained the last Stewart-Haas Racing driver to be picked by another team in the upcoming season.
The team is set to expand to a three-car operation in 2025. They have leased a charter from Rick Ware Racing as the two are in a technical partnership. Their third car, the #60 Toyota, will be piloted by Ryan Preece, who drove with Stewart-Haas Racing until they decided to cease operations at the end of the 2024 season.
After the announcement, RFK revealed on social media that Preece had been dropping subtle hints about his signing prior to the announcement. He had been adding a little '60' next to his signature, pointing towards his drive in 2025.
"Friendly reminder that @RyanPreece_ was casually dropping hints on his new ride for months before we announced it. just look at the number next to his signature"
The 34-year-old also posted a clip on his social media account, mentioning the hints he dropped regarding his future.
Ryan Preece excited to join Brad Keselowski at RFK Racing
Preece mentioned that he is rather excited to be teammates with Chris Buscher (driver of the #17 Ford). He would also be working closely with Brad Keselowski, the team's co-owner. The latter raced with Penske for a long time before joining RFK in a driver and co-owner capacity. He will continue to pilot the #6 in 2025 after bringing his first victory with the team in the 2024 season at Darlington.
In an X post from RFK Racing, Ryan Preece said:
"So having the opportunity to come over, be teammates with Chris again, someone who I enjoy being around with a lot of times, and someone that I actually from a teammate perspective I can depend on, just like he can depend on me." [0:24]
He added:
"And then obviously, being able to lean on Brad, the knowledge that he has, as well as what he's been able to do as a leader for RFK, is very impressive. It started with a phone call actually. I remember walking into SHR's building and I saw Brad was calling. That ended up being a conversation of there maybe an opportunity of where we're gonna be expanding to three car, would you, would you like to come drive for us?" [1:09]
Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece have been teammates previously when the latter joined JTG Daugherty Racing in the 2019 season. That was Buscher's final season with the team before joining Rousch Fenway Racing, which eventually became RFK. Preece, meanwhile, raced at JTG for three seasons before moving to Stewart Haas Racing.
