Former NASCAR driver and TV personality Kenny Wallace has weighed in on a discussion between former Cup Series star Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife, Amy. The couple discussed how Earnhardt recently tried to "cheat" when getting a suit tailored.
Amy was a guest on a recent episode of Dale Jr. Download and was asked if she assists her husband in dressing him. The wife of the two-time Daytona 500 winner humorously stated that while she helps out, her husband isn't always cooperative.
"Here's the thing about dressing Dale," Amy said. "He's down to do it 50 percent of the time. Then, the other 50 percent, it's straight up stomping your feet, so annoyed. He's been trying to eat better and he feels good about his bod at the moment, so taking him shopping was a breeze."
Earnhardt went on to explain that your body changes throughout the course of a year. When you go to get a piece of clothing tailored, the North Carolina native explained how they make it to fit you perfectly. Then, Earnhardt said if you go a year and try to put on that same piece, it might not fit.
While Amy suggested trying it on a week before actually wearing it out, Earnhardt explained that's not what guys do.
"Guys don't do that," Earnhardt said. "So getting a new tux. While the guy's measuring it, man, I'm like trying to make my belly as big as I can."
Earnhardt went on to say it's a way of "cheating" getting clothing tailored.
"I was trying to cheat it a little bit, so that the guy would tailor it a little large," he said.
On Saturday, Wallace took to X for his traditional "Coffee with Kenny" video and expressed how he found the exchange between Earnhardt and his wife humorous. The 61-year-old believes Amy takes good care of her husband, but said with a chuckle that Earnhardt is smart for how he "cheats" the tailored outfits.
"He's like me," Wallace said. "Dale Jr. is like, 'Our bodies fluctuate, and you know, what I bought a year ago don't fit now,' but he is smart. Dale Jr. is extremely smart. He said, 'This time, when they sized me, I made my belly as big as I could. I pushed it out. That way, it's a little loose and maybe it'll fit next time I need it.' That's a good strategy right there." (5:07 onwards)
