Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to support young racing talent by investing in Connor Hall for the 2025 season. The NASCAR Hall of Famer offered Hall a seat at JR Motorsports.
Hall currently competes in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and has won two National Championships. The 27-year-old will drive the Bass Pro Shops No. 88 Late Model Stock Car full-time next year.
Earnhardt Jr. co-owns JR Motorsports with his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller and offers a driver development program. The team competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series, CARS Tour, and NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series.
Earnhardt Jr. shared words of praise for Hall in a tweet on October 8. He wrote:
"Looking forward to helping Connor continue his career. He's a hard racer with proven ability. Our late model program has an ambitious schedule for next year with multiple drivers. Connor will be leading the charge."
The Virginia native will be the next key driver for the team’s championship-winning Late Model program in 2025. This year, he is one point ahead of Brenden Queen in the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car division with two races to go.
Hall will take over from Carson Kvapil, who will move to the No. 1 NASCAR Xfinity Series entry full-time in 2025.
JR Motorsports’ Senior Vice President of Motorsports L.W. Miller also spoke about Hall's addition. He said in an official press release:
“We are very happy to be able to have someone of Connor’s caliber and experience join us in our Late Model program. Seeing his many successes over the past several seasons makes us very excited to watch him continue that success in a JR Motorsports Late Model in 2025. Everyone at JRM is looking forward to seeing what he and Bryan (Shaffer) can do together in the Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet."
Hall's impressive track record also includes five CARS Tour wins and race wins at South Boston Speedway and Langley Speedway.
JR Motorsports appeals Sam Mayer's disqualification
JR Motorsports plans to appeal Sam Mayer's disqualification from the Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on October 7.
After the United Rentals 250 at Talladega, Mayer's No. 1 car was found to be too low in the rear during the post-race check and he was subsequently disqualified. This caused him to drop from 16th place to 38th and earn only one point.
JR Motorsports announced that they would appeal the disqualification. The team shared on X:
''JR Motorsports will appeal the disqualification of Sam Mayer and the No. 1 team following last weekend’s event at Talladega Superspeedway.”
Mayer was above the playoff elimination line before the penalty and has fallen from being the last driver in on points to 11th overall. He is now 13 points below the cutline.
The final race in the Round of 12 will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend after which four drivers will be eliminated from the playoffs.
