Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson finished in P11 at the South Point 400 held on October 20, 2024, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Team Penske driver Joey Logano clinched the victory, securing a spot for the next round of playoffs. Larson expressed his views on the #22 driver's crazy win.

Logano qualified for the race in tenth place, with a best time of 29.287 seconds and a top speed of 184.482 mph. He was 0.152 seconds behind Christopher Bell, the leader of the pack. The Team Penske driver moved up in Stage 1 and finished eighth, earning three additional playoff points. Larson was two places behind him.

The #22 driver went up three places by the end of Stage 2, finishing in fifth place and earning an additional six points to his playoff standing. Logano changed the outcome of the race, suddenly overtaking Daniel Saurez in the 261st lap and leading the rest of the laps, claiming the win.

Kyle Larson expressed his views on Logano's phenomenal performance at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and said:

"In my opinion, they're the best at taking an average car, maximizing their day, and turning it into wins like this. Nashville, same thing. You look at his career he's had a lot of wins like that. He's just really good. Paul Wolfe, as well. Hats off to them. That's super impressive to gamble like that and lock yourself in" (via Kelly Crandall on X).

A pit stop that cost Kyle Larson the podium position at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Kyle Larson qualified for the race in fifth place with a time of 29.05 seconds and a top speed of 184.9 mph. He was just 0.07 seconds behind Christopher Bell. However, things didn't go as Larson expected—during Stage 1; he fell five places and finished in tenth place, earning only one point.

Things worsened for the #5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver in Stage 2 when he took a pit stop in lap 125. During the tire change, a mishap took place; the jack dropped while tightening the bolts. The tire carrier pointed this out and helped the changer to tighten the tire. This cost Larson a lot of time in the pits

While other drivers gained positions, Larson's struggles were not over; he made another pit stop on lap 127 to get his left rear tire tight again. Kyle Larson finished in P30.

Despite his poor performance in Stage 2, he recovered significantly from the loss and started moving up in the final stage of the race and finished the race in P11, earning 27 points. Before the Las Vegas race, Kyle Larson was leading the playoff standings; now he is in third place with 35 points over the cut line.
