Xfinity Series drivers Cole Custer and Chandler Smith had a heated altercation after the Martinsville race, which eventually turned into a physical confrontation. NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace shared his opinion on the fight between the two championship contenders during his Coffee with Kenny podcast.

NASCAR is no stranger to run-ins between drivers. One of the most talked about confrontations of the 2024 season was between Cup Series drivers Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Joining the list is the recent heated disagreement between Xfinity drivers Custer and Smith after the National Debt Relief 250 race at Martinsville Speedway.

Smith and Custer were engaged in a battle for the championship race at Phoenix. With the former being in a must-win situation, he was infuriated by the latter's aggressive defense tactics in the final stage of the race. Eventually, Smith lost the opportunity to enter the grand finale. This led to the #81 Joe Gibbs Racing driver slapping the defending Xfinity Series champion after the race.

Former NASCAR driver and current analyst Wallace shared his opinion on the fight on the recent Coffee with Kenny podcast.

"The b**** slap heard across the world. Chandler Smith had enough of Cole Custer and instead of punching him, he slapped him like a little b****," Wallace said (0:07 onward).
"For Chandler to not move on for the championship is definitely a devastating blow. But it did amaze me when Chandler got out of his car and he walked back to Cole and they start arguing.... I was surprised when Chandler did slap him just because he's been so calm and cool and collected this year," he added (3:17 onward).

"I can’t even tell if he really punched me in the face, it was so soft" - Reigning Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer on the altercation at Martinsville

Reigning Xfinity Series Champion Cole Custer made it to the 2024 championship race after finishing fourth in the National Debt Relief 250 race at Martinsville Speedway. However, the Californian driver got into an altercation with a visibly upset Chandler Smith after the race.

He shared his opinion on Smith's actions during a post-race interview.

"Obviously he’s not happy but at the end of the day, he’s put us in the wall a few times this year and his mistakes caught up with him. He used the bumper on me. I used the bumper on him. So what comes around goes around in this deal. I don’t know how we’re not even," Cole Custer commented.
"Then, he punches me in the face. I can’t even tell if he really punched me in the face, it was so soft," he added.
