NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick's crew chief Billy Scott recently spoke about the impact 23XI Racing's co-owner Michael Jordan's presence had on the team. During the race weekend, Scott shed light on certain factors about Jordan's personality as a team owner and avid NASCAR fan.
Jordan co-owns 23XI with active Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin, who was recently eliminated from the round of 8 of the playoffs. However, the crew chief of the #45 team Billy Scott spoke with the media after a grueling practice session at Phoenix about Jordan's impact as team owner, noting how he provided insights at just the right time (via Jayski) :
“His presence in itself is very inspiring – obviously he’s one of the most competitive people you’d ever meet in anything he does so just having them there, we certainly want to make him proud, but he’s also an avid fan and learning everything he can about the sport. He’s very intuitive of what’s going on. He understands everything, from the strategy to the set-ups to motivating people. Every now and then he’ll speak up at the right time and it certainly goes a long way," Scott said.
Billy further highlighted Jordan's passion for the sport and the desire to get positive results, saying:
“He wants to win this, absolutely. I cannot even imagine what it’s like when he’s been so successful at the highest level of his sport for so long – the greatest, arguably of all time. So to see that enthusiasm back in him when he’s been there for the couple wins he’s witnessed in person. It’s very rewarding,” he added.
23XI Racing's practice session ended with Tyler Reddick being only the 21st fastest, while his teammate Bubba Wallace, who was recently sanctioned a massive penalty by NASCAR after a controversy-filled race at Martinsville, secured P11.
Regular season champion Tyler Reddick has raced nine times at Phoenix Raceway in his NASCAR Cup Series career, achieving two top-five finishes at the 1-mile, low-banked tri-oval. As he prepares for the season's final race, Reddick is focused on capturing his first Cup Series title, with Phoenix presenting the ultimate test in his championship pursuit.
Tyler Reddick comments on his mindset ahead of title finale at Phoenix amid 23XI's legal battle
23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports have been in a legal battle with NASCAR following a disagreement with the new charter agreement. Tyler Reddick recently shed light on his mindset ahead of the Championship Race at Phoenix, amid all the drama between his team and the organization.
"I haven’t really had to try to block it out; it pretty much came naturally with what lays ahead of us. They’ve got a team of people that are taking care of that. I’m taking care of what I can do as the driver. Yeah, it hasn’t been difficult at all to not think about that stuff," Reddick said (via Racer).
Meanwhile, a judge recently denied a preliminary injunction for 23XI Racing and FRM. Fox Sports Bob Pockrass shared a statement from the court's ruling. He wrote on X:
"At this time, Plaintiffs have not met their burden as required for a preliminary injunction. Should circumstances change, Plaintiffs may file a renewed motion for preliminary injunction."
