NASCAR driver Christopher Bell's wife Morgan Bell shared her disappointment after her husband's tough loss to Joey Logano last Sunday at the South Point 400 race. Morgan posted a four-word response to an in-car video on Instagram.
Christopher Bell started from pole position, won the second stage and led most of the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, the No. 20 Toyota had a difficult last two laps catching up with Team Penske's No. 22 Ford. Bell eventually finished second, just 0.662 seconds behind Logano.
Ohio native Morgan posted a short message on her social media to show her disappointment.
"I have no words," she wrote.
Christopher Bell met Morgan, whose father Brian Kemenah is involved in dirt racing, in 2010. The couple got engaged in 2018 and married in 2020. Morgan and Christopher co-own Bell Kemenah Racing, a dirt racing team.
"I’ve seen it before and I couldn’t believe it" - Christopher Bell on a second place finish at Vegas
Christopher Bell made a pit stop while leading the race with 38 laps remaining at the playoff race in Las However, Logano and his Penske teammate Ryan Blaney in the No. 12 Ford made things difficult for Bell during the final laps.
With five laps left, Logano took the lead and Bell was in third place. Blaney blocked Christopher’s way and helped Logano win and earn a spot in the championship race which will be held next month.
"Regardless of how much time he had, the 12 car was with Joey trying to play defense for him. So, it was going to take the right move to get by him but we had 30, almost 40 lap newer tires than him and clearly a lot more pace than he had at that time. I didn’t get there in 267 laps, though," Bell later said.
Last year, Bell lost a playoff race at the same track to Kyle Larson by a small margin. He also talked about losing an Xfinity race in the same way.
"I definitely feel like I executed my race. I feel like our team executed our race. It just wasn’t meant to be. That’s a dagger. That’s more of a dagger than last year...I lost an Xfinity Race here, I think in 2019, in literally the exact same way where the yellow flag comes out on the outside of the window, leading the race, have to make a pitstop and someone in the back stretched it. So, I’ve seen it before and I couldn’t believe it," he added.
The next Cup Series playoff race is at the Homestead-Miami track on October 28.
