Bubba Wallace has recently declared that he would never join politics. Coming back from a trip to the prestigious White House in Washington, DC, for a promotional event, the 23XI Racing driver got candid about his experience.
The event, which aimed at promoting the Space4All initiative, was the result of a joint venture between 23XI Racing and Leidos, an industrial lead in the realm of deep space exploration and human spaceflight. The purpose of the Space4All campaign was to educate people and encourage interest and careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and space.
When a reporter at New Hampshire Motor Speedway asked Wallace if he had any plans of getting involved in political affairs, the Alabama native promptly said (1:13):
"Hell no! I'm already in enough headlines; hell no."
The reporter joked, saying that he would vote for Wallace, who shared a laugh and replied:
"Thanks, pal, that's one."
Bubba Wallace currently sits 14th in the NASCAR Cup Series point standings, with 414 points to his name. 17 races into the season, Wallace has amassed three top-5s and five top-10s, besides leading 35 laps. His next race is at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, for which he qualified 17th.
Bubba Wallace reflects on his takeaways from his White House visit
Bubba Wallace met San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Joshua Dobbs and his family at the White House. While Wallace's PR members were busy having their fanboy moments, the NFL star walked up to Wallace and regarded him as the best race car driver in the world.
Recalling the special moment, Wallace said:
"You should have seen my PR people; they were freaking out! He (Joshua Dobbs) walked up to me with his kid, said I was the best race car driver in the world."
Another takeaway for Wallace from the short trip was the delicious food at the White House mess. Especially impressed with their French Toast, the Toyota pilot said that he would miss the taste of that particular French Toast.
"I was part of the West Wing, got to eat in the mess; best French Toast I've ever had. It was a cool experience. Wednesday night for the Leidos dinner, then left Thursday afternoon."
Besides his Cup Series races this year, Bubba Wallace will be preparing for his comeback in the Cook Out Summer Shootout after a five-year hiatus. The Cook Out Summer Shootout is a 10-race event that features Legend Cars and Bandoleros races at eight different divisions.
"My car has been sitting at the shop for years, just in pieces. We got it built back, and here we are," said the American.
He will run the #76 Legend Car in all the races under the Pro category.
