Ahead of the Charlotte ROVAL race, Hendrick Motorsports held an autograph session with four of its drivers. However, the HMS stars were surprised to sign bizarre items including a lampshade, a small rocking chair, and a LEGO plate.

Hendrick Motorsports fields four drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series, namely William Byron, Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, and Chase Elliott. All of them have qualified for the 2024 playoffs, with Byron locking himself in the Round of 8 after the Talladega race.

In a new video shared by the Hendrick Motorsports on X, the drivers were given unique items to sign. William Byron was handed a gray 2x4 LEGO plate, which he signed with no hiccups.

However, Alex Bowman initially refused to sign a lampshade, before penning his signature on it. He asked:

“Why am I signing a lampshade? What?”

Chase Elliott was given a small rocking chair to sign, while Kyle Larson signed an eagle statue.

Aside from the drivers, Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon also joined the fun. He was asked to sign a framed picture of a landscape. After signing the item, the former HMS driver said:

“Man, I can’t wait to see how this turns out.”

The four Hendrick Motorsports drivers gear up for a home race on a reworked road course layout at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The track now comes with a tighter hairpin at turn 7, while turns 15 to 17 have a sharper apex.

Three of the four drivers will start within the top 10 positions, with Kyle Larson in the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro, leading the team in sixth after a lap of 1:23.33. Next to him is Chase Elliott in the No. 9 car in seventh, with William Byron in the No. 24 car, starting in 10th.

Alex Bowman had a tough qualifying session, securing the 17th position for Sunday’s race.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson eyes a clean race weekend at Charlotte

Following the P4 finish at Talladega Superspeedway, Kyle Larson is looking to race without crashing at Charlotte ROVAL. The 32-year-old driver admitted not feeling comfortable driving on the roval but hopes for a stress-free race weekend.

Per SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Larson said:

“I've haven't felt very comfortable in general at the Roval the last couple of years, since we brought in the next-gen cars."

He also talked about his sim work, saying:

"Wanted to just work through some things. It's good to get in there.”

The California native concluded:

“I do look forward this weekend, I hope to have a clean weekend, one where I don't crash. I feel like I've crashed at the Roval a lot in my career, and I've just always had some sort of stress on that weekend, so hoping to have a stress-free weekend.”
