Hendrick Motorsports drivers Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Alex Bowman recently took part in a blindfold challenge organized by the team. In a series of videos, each driver was handed a miniature track layout and tasked with guessing the track by feeling the layout.

Ahead of the Round of 12 cut-off race at the Charlotte Roval, HMS uploaded a video featuring its four drivers attempting to guess the 2.28-mile hybrid circuit. Elliott identified the track immediately, using just one hand to feel the layout before confidently arriving at the correct conclusion.

Byron took a few more seconds than Elliott but quickly recognized it was the Roval. Bowman suspected it wasn't an oval and cleverly responded with a rhyme, before discarding it in his signature style.

"Oh Gosh! it's not an oval, but it is the Roval," Bowman said.

Kyle Larson took the most time, struggling with the task as the deceptively long corners tripped him up. He cycled through various NASCAR tracks before finally arriving at the correct answer.

"It's kind of a long corner, what is this?... What tracks we race at? What has such a long corner? Oh the Roval!" the #5 Hendrick Motorsports driver said.

Heading into the Round of 12 cut-off race at the Charlotte Roval, William Byron has punched his ticket to the next round. Larson has a comfortable 52-point cushion, while Alex Bowman is 26 points good to the cutline. Chase Elliott is just 13 points above the cutline and needs a good result this weekend.

Chase Elliott comments on recent track layout changes to the Roval

The Roval has undergone a makeover, introducing a sharp hairpin corner at Turn 7 that leads into the oval section of the track. Additionally, the final chicane on the front stretch has been revamped, featuring a much tighter apex at Turn 16.

Chase Elliott believes the recent changes have transformed the Roval into an entirely new track, significantly altering its flow. The #9 HMS driver has prepared for the revamped layout on the simulator and is aiming to hit the ground running in the practice session.

"Yeah, to me, I kind of look at it like it's a new race track, truthfully. That section of the track is going to change the entire flow of the lap there, so I've been kind of approaching it as a new track with my preparation. I've spent some time in the simulator, just trying to really memorize the track and where the little bumps are. Typically those track scans are pretty good," he said via Speedway Digest.com.
"Obviously, we have extra practice next week, so hopefully that's enough to find a good rhythm and get a good flow for qualifying and then obviously for the race," he added.

The Bank Of America Roval 400 is scheduled for this Sunday, October 13, at 2:00 pm ET. Catch the action live on NBC, PRN, and SiriusXM.
