Pink will return to Team Penske's #2 Ford as Austin Cindric will be driving in Homestead-Miami with a special livery. The pink is in association with his sponsor, Freightliner.
Cindric also used a special livery earlier this season, racing at Gateway in a similar design in blue. He managed to win that race, which was also his only victory of this season so far. While he is the only Penske driver out of the top eight in championship contention, the #2 will certainly catch the eyes of the fans in a contrasting mix of black and pink.
"Racing in pink."
Team Penske has remained competitive this season with their drivers. While Cindric did not have the most consistent performances, he did manage to pull himself to the top 16 (getting eliminated by the time the season reached the round of eight).
Currently, both Team Penske drivers Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano are in contention for the championship, with the latter leading the table after winning in Las Vegas. He locked himself up in the Championship 4 for the sixth time in his career. The 2023 champion Blaney, meanwhile, is on the bubble at seventh place.
Joey Logano discusses factor that "drives" Team Penske
After his win in Vegas, Logano is in a sweet spot to win his third Cup Series championship. However, his performance mid-season remained largely affected, finishing out of the top 20 on multiple occasions that negatively impacted his chances of winning.
Discussing the surge of performance the team witnessed in Las Vegas, Logano stated that Team Penske improved their performance under the pressure of falling out of contention for the championship.
"There were times throughout the year where we had speed but we couldn't put a race together. There were times in the year where we had no speed and gosh we were executing well but it wasn't good enough. And it seems like right now we're able to do both," Joey Logano said.
"When you get back behind the eight ball a little bit and you're getting beat by whatever name the team panic sets in right? That's one thing that's real, like that panic mode sets in and we're like we got to figure something out. It seems like that drives us, like I don't know why, that is what it is," he added.
Joey Logano is joined by Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, and William Byron in the top four. He has won three races in the season. Although Larson has had a more successful campaign in the season, there would be immense competition in the final race at Phoenix.
