Daniel Suarez's wife, Julia Piquet, has congratulated Max Verstappen on winning the 2024 F1 world drivers' championship. Piquet hoped Verstappen partied as hard as they did last year when the driver won the title.
For the uninitiated, Julia Piquet is the sister of Kelly who is dating Max Verstappen. Daniel Suarez and Verstappen also formed a friendship, with the No. 99 Trackhouse Racing driver recently congratulating the now four-time F1 champ on X (formerly Twitter).
Julia Piquet took to Instagram and shared a photo with Verstappen, congratulating the driver.
"4x champ," Piquet wrote with four championship trophy emojis.
"Hope you partied as hard as we did last year," she added.
Last year, Max Verstappen won the championship at the end of the sprint session during the Qatar race weekend in October. He dominated the season by clinching the title with six Grand Prix races left on the calendar.
This year, the No. 1 Red Bull Racing driver secured his fourth championship at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The open-wheel racing series only has two races left before the season ends, with the constructors' championship battle yet to be decided.
As for Daniel Suarez, the NASCAR driver is enjoying his off-season following a playoff run that ended after the Round of 12. In February, Suarez earned his way to the postseason with a photo-finish win at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The Chevrolet driver also had four top-5 and nine top-10 finishes this year.
Below is Suarez's congratulatory post for Verstappen.
Daniel Suarez promised to work hard for the future following playoff exit at Charlotte
After the Charlotte roval Round of 12 race, Daniel Suarez reflected on the race where his No. 99 Chevy had a brake failure. The race witnessed him getting eliminated along with Alex Bowman, Austin Cindric, and Chase Briscoe.
In an X post, Suarez shared:
"I’m disappointed we didn’t make the round of 8, but I think I’m more disappointed that we worked so hard leading up to the Roval and didn’t have anything to show for it."
"Around Lap 8-10 in the race I knew something was different with my brakes, I didn’t have the balance and stopping power that I had on Saturday, eventually in stage #2 I lost brakes completely. After checking the car today at the shop a brake line got loose and eventually leaked enough to lose all the brake fluid… No bueno."
The 32-year-old Mexican-born driver promised to work hard in the future, saying:
"I want to thank our great partner @ChoiceHotels and looking forward to closing off the season strong. We’ll keep working hard I can promise you that."
For the 2025 season, Daniel Suarez will return to the No. 99 car for Trackhouse Racing. He will run alongside Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen, who will drive the new third car acquired from the now-discontinued Stewart-Haas Racing team.
