During a recent episode of the Stacking Pennies podcast, Corey LaJoie went into detail regarding his incident with Kyle Busch at Pocono. But the Spire Motorsports driver took to his podcast to explain why he wasn't at fault didn't sit well with Landon Cassill.
The part-time NASCAR driver spoke about LaJoie's insights into the moment when Kyle Busch's car got wrecked, on the Money Lap podcast. Cassill opined that LaJoie shouldn't have worn his analyst's hat to explain his incident and should've instead admitted his part in the accident:
"Getting on a podcast and doing a full-on breakdown of trying to exonerate yourself how you wrecked a NASCAR champion with the most NASCAR wins of all time, I don't know if that's a really good idea. I think he'd probably have been better off getting on his podcast and been like, 'Man, I kind of screwed up. I didn't mean to do that. Kyle was racing me like an a**hole, so I didn't feel too bad about wrecking him. But I didn't do it on purpose. But I'll take responsibility for that. It was my front bumper on his rear,'" Cassill said. [38:25]
The podcast's co-host Parker Kligerman also said that Corey LaJoie should simply have admitted that he made a mistake and apologized.
Speaking further about LaJoie, Cassill added:
"Hey how about you just own it? Just own it that you screwed up, or you misjudged something."
Cassill said that in a scenario where a driver is getting a lot of criticism for on-track incidents, pointing blame isn't the best thing to do. He mentioned that there are drivers in NASCAR today who would get into an incident, get out of the car, and start giving "100 reasons why it wasn't their fault."
Despite LaJoie explaining the incident in great detail on his podcast, Landon Cassill's recent comments suggested that the chapter is far from closed.
Kyle Busch talks of payback for Corey LaJoie after their Pocono incident
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show ahead of this Sunday's Brickyard 400, Kyle Busch made his intentions pretty clear about Corey LaJoie and their Pocono incident.
Busch revealed that LaJoie texted him and then called him. But the 2x Cup champion didn't respond to either, as he pointed to taking revenge on LaJoie on track.
"I didn’t even reach back out because he changed his story four times, so I’m like, you’re just a liar. You wrecked me. Like, I get it. It’s fine, whatever. Payback’s coming," Busch said as per NASCAR.
Responding to Busch's comments, LaJoie claimed that while the RCR driver has every right to be mad, he should've at least responded to his calls. The Spire driver further expressed his disapproval of Busch going on the Pat McAfee show and calling him a liar.
LaJoie said all these things have frustrated him further.
