After snapping his wrist during the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 21, the two-week break was what Kyle Busch needed to race again. Reflecting on the same in a recent interview with Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, the two-time Cup Series champion took a jab at the Next-Gen race cars.

NASCAR's media partner NBC Sports has been busy covering the Summer Olympics over the last two weeks in Paris. Meanwhile, several drivers such as the reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney, Xfinity Series driver Parker Kligerman, and Busch had set off for various destinations around the world.

Busch and his family flew to Italy during the break, where he was seen with a brace around his left wrist. The Chevy star reportedly injured his wrist from the crash at Indy. The Richard Childress Racing driver was racing Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin for position going into turn 3 when he rammed straight into the outside wall.

No bones were broken and it was just a minor sprain. Kyle Busch told Pockrass:

"These great Next Gen race cars snap the wheel and snap your wrist. Without two weeks off, I would not have been able to race. I'm good... I'm pretty good now."

Kyle Busch is currently on a 40-plus winless streak that could hinder his playoff appearance. He will enter Sunday's race 18th in the standings with 440 points to his name. Will Busch win at Richmond and corkscrew a playoff berth? Only time will tell.

Kyle Busch reveals his biggest challenge at the Virginian racetrack

Kyle Busch qualified 12th on Saturday, August 10. According to an official NASCAR report, this will be his best starting spot since he qualified seventh at Iowa Speedway over a month ago. Therefore, the 39-year-old driver is ready to "grip it and rip it" at Richmond, a track where he leads the field in wins (6).

"Yeah, I mean, we unloaded good here," Busch said during a post-qualifying interview (via motorsport.com). "We felt good balance and you know decent speed."

However, for Kyle Busch, finding the right balance between the 'prime' and the 'option' tires would be the biggest challenge. Although the softer 'option' tires were used earlier in the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro, this will be their first time running a point-paying race.

"So definitely a balance difference between the two sets of tires," Busch further explained. "That was probably our biggest thing that was our biggest struggle. So just if we can close that gap up, I felt pretty good on the controls."

The Cup Series field will take the green flag at 6 pm ET. Fans can watch the action live on the USA Network and NBC Sports. Fans can also listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
