Joe Gibbs driver Denny Hamlin sided with Kyle Larson while addressing the incident that the latter shared with his spotter Tyler Monn. Hamlin stated that he would have had the same reaction.

During the Cup Series race at New Hampshire earlier last week, Larson and Hamlin had a moment when the latter fought for the little gap in the middle lane and pushed the #5 Chevrolet to take the second place. While the caution was out, Larson's spotter Tyler Monn told him that Hamlin only does this because he lets him. He said:

"He [Denny] runs you like that every time, you know why, because you let it happen."

Kyle Larson was seemingly displeased with this statement, so he asked Monn not to speak, however, not in a very pleasing manner.

"Shut the f*** up," the #5 Chevy driver said.

Speaking on the Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin stated that he agreed with Larson asking Monn to not speak. He added that Monn would not call out Larson if he was pushing other drivers up. Moreover, he feels that spotters are sometimes biased for their drivers.

"I agree with Kyle Larson Tyler should shut the f***up cuz does he say that when Kyle squeezes guys up high? Probably not."

He added:

"You know that's the thing about spotters is that you know they are so biased to their guy and that's what they need to be at times right? But um we're Racing for a win there's drops on our windshield." (37:20)

Christopher Bell ultimately won the race, with the #5 Chevy finishing in fourth place.

Denny Hamlin explains why he and Kyle Larson share intense battles regularly

The #11 Toyota driver explained his regular tough battles with Kyle Larson, claiming that both drivers fight for race wins. He explained that because of this, they don't leave enough space for each other, and that is exactly what happened in New Hampshire. He said:

"The reason uh that me and Kyle race so closely at times because we're usually a racing for a win. Racing for a win. And neither will give each other an inch, right?" (37:43)

Both Hamlin and Larson have been impressive this season. They have each won three races, but the latter has won eight stages while Hamlin's count is stuck at three. After the race last week, Larson retook the lead in the standings, and the #11 has been consistent in third position. The playoff entry for both drivers is seemingly open.
