Daniel Suarez penned a heartfelt post about his feelings following Sunday's Cup Series race at the ROVAL. Despite falling out of the playoff picture, the Mexican speedster promised his fans he would keep putting in the hard work.
Daniel Suarez drives the No. 99 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing, full-time in the Cup Series. He is in his eighth season driving in the series and fourth with the Chevy team. Suarez is the first Mexico-born driver to win a Cup Series race in NASCAR (Sonoma, 2022). He won the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2016.
Suarez made it to the playoff rumble with a win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February this year. However, his playoff journey ended at Charlotte Motor Speedway when he lost his brakes after being pushed off the track and over the curb by Bubba Wallace.
"I’m disappointed we didn’t make the round of 8, but I think I’m more disappointed that we worked so hard leading up to the Roval and didn’t have anything to show for it. Around Lap 8-10 in the race I knew something was different with my brakes, I didn’t have the balance and stopping power that I had on Saturday, eventually in stage #2 I lost brakes completely."
During the early laps of Stage 3, Suarez reported brake fluid leakage. Although Suarez continued running the race, all he could pull off was a P30 finish—one lap down. As reported by Rotoballer, Suarez was the "third-slowest driver in the race."
Daniel Suarez further stated:
"After checking the car today at the shop a brake line got loose and eventually leaked enough to lose all the brake fluid… No bueno. I want to thank our great partner@ChoiceHotels and looking forward to closing off the season strong. We’ll keep working hard I can promise you that,
The 32-year-old currently sits 13th in the Cup Series standings with 2127 points to his name. His next race is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 20th.
Daniel Suarez opened up on impending dream-come-true moment
NASCAR will make a trip to Mexico on June 15, 2025, to host a regular-season Cup Series race. It's going to be the first time since 1958 that NASCAR will run a point-paying race outside of the US. Needless to say, Daniel Suarez is excited. After all, Mexico is his home country, and he has always wanted NASCAR to race there.
Daniel Suarez said in an interview (via Motorsport).
"Honestly, it's like literally a dream for me. Since I left my country in 2011 and obviously went to the U.S. in 2015, I had the opportunity to race full time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. In that year, I really dreamed and thought about one day racing in the top category of NASCAR in my country. And to be here today is something incredible."
Per reports, the 2025 event will take place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
Earlier this season, Suarez won the NASCAR Mexico season opener, the King Taco La Batalla en El Coliseo. While NASCAR was on a two-week break due to the Summer Olympics, Suarez won the second of three annual NASCAR Brasil races at Autodromo de Interlagos. This made him the only driver to win in Mexico, Brazil, and all three tiers of NASCAR in America.
