Danica Patrick responded to rapper Macklemore’s explicit comments against America. In an Instagram story, Patrick, who endorses Donald Trump for the upcoming election, told the rapper he can leave if he hates America.
Patrick is a 42-year-old Wisconsin native who previously drove in the NASCAR Cup Series, piloting Stewart-Haas Racing cars throughout her career. Meanwhile, Macklemore, a.k.a. Benjamin Haggerty, is a 41-year-old rapper known for his songs like the 2012’s Thrift Shop.
Danica Patrick’s statement was a response to Macklemore saying “F*** America” during a concert in Seattle, in which the crowd cheered in approval.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the former NASCAR driver said:
“I really [don’t] care if someone hates America. You can leave if you want. No issue. But please don’t attack or judge an American for saying they love America.”
The concert at the Seward Park Amphitheatre in Seattle was called the Palestine Will Live Forever Festival and was aimed at supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees.
Macklemore also released two songs in support of the Palestinian people, namely 'Hind’s Hall' and 'Hind’s Hall 2'. In the latest release, the rapper took a jab at US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also running for president in the 2024 election.
A verse from his track 'Hind Hall 2', which was released last Friday, read:
“Hey Kamala, I don’t know if you’re listening. But stop sending money and weapons or you ain’t winning Michigan. We uncommitted, and h**l no we ain’t switching positions."
In one of her most recent posts, Patrick shared at the Reclaim America Tour in Las Vegas how she came up with the decision to support Trump:
“My story starts in December of last year. I was going to the event in Phoenix called Amfest. I posted a bunch of pictures […] The photos definitely had a color theme and I posted these and I said, ‘I love America. Let’s make America great again.’”
In an earlier story reported by The Spun, Patrick opened up on her political views, saying:
“I am not a liberal. I am somewhere between Republican and Independent. I think our country should be run by someone that knows business and has integrity. I believe we should be able to speak freely. I love this country, and I have lived in other places. I believe when people of different opinions speak face to face, we realize we are more similar than different.”
As of this writing, Patrick and Macklemore haven’t responded to each other.
Danica Patrick had some words about Kamala Harris’ speech
Danica Patrick criticized Kamala Harris’ speech at the Unite for America rally where the presidential candidate talked about patriotism with Oprah Winfrey.
In her Instagram story, the former NASCAR driver wrote:
“She repeats herself. Takes long pauses. Never really says anything. But forgot her famous line 'unburdened by what has been.'”
With Patrick making her political stance clear, fans should see her more often at presidential campaigns heading to the election in November. They can also catch her at F1 Grand Prix race weekends as she is part of the FOX Sports broadcast team for the open-wheel, single-seater series.
