Brad Keselowski's spotter, TJ Majors, recently recounted a fun vacation story about Martin Truex Jr. on the DJD Reloaded podcast. He revealed that although the 43-year-old driver is typically the quietest in their group, he becomes quite talkative after a few drinks. This led him to narrate a memorable incident where Truex Jr. didn’t let anyone get much sleep.
Martin Truex Jr., who has enjoyed a NASCAR career spanning over two decades, is preparing to retire. As he nears this significant milestone, many from the racing world are reflecting on his career and sharing personal anecdotes about him.
When TJ Majors had the chance to share a lighter side of Truex Jr., he took the opportunity, providing fans with a glimpse into the fun personality behind the wheel.
"Once Martin has a couple drinks, Martin is very chatty after that. One time, we did go on a, we went a vacation to Cabo. (laughing) - Martin actually met us there. I think they came right from a race. We were on an off week in the cup side. - Yes. - Martin was only there for like, 3 days.
Man, I don't think he slept the entire time and he would not let anybody else sleep either," TJ Majors revealed on the podcast via X.
When TJ Majors finally managed to find a quiet spot to catch some sleep, he was soon awakened by an unexpected visitor. Martin Truex Jr., in a playful mood, had persuaded the caretaker of the house to unlock everyone's doors, allowing him to barge in.
"Martin would not let anybody sleep," TJ Majors reminisced.
Meanwhile, Truex Jr. is aiming to start his farewell tour with back-to-back victories at Loudon in the USA Today 301.
Martin Truex Jr. is eager to start his farewell countdown on a high note with a victory
Last year, starting from the P2 position, Truex Jr. won the Crayon 301 race leading the track - 254 of the 301 laps - and won both Stage 1 and Stage 2. However, in the 61 NASCAR Cup Series races at the Magic Mile, only four drivers have managed to secure back-to-back wins at this venue. Despite this, Truex Jr. remains optimistic about his and his team's capabilities.
“I think we can. I feel like we’ve been good on short tracks in general this year, with our new Camry. We’ve been really good at Loudon the last two years with the Next Gen car. It’s just going to be a matter of how do we adapt the changes we have now to what we did last year, and how does the track change.
I’m really confident. We’ve got a really good team and things are going well. We just need to put it all together,” Martin Truex Jr. said as per Seacoastonline.
According to the current driver standings, Martin Truex Jr. stands in fifth place with 530 points, with four top-5 finishes and seven top-10s.
