Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s guest, Michael Curb/Mike, has addressed his relentless pursuit of motorsports involvement. The latter was Dale Sr.'s sponsor when he registered his career-first NASCAR Winston Cup Series title in 1980.
Curb is a man of many characters. The 42nd Lieutenant Governor of California is also an American musician, the founder of Curb Records, the chairman of World Entertainment, and a sponsor in multiple motorsport disciplines. The 79-year-old is heavily involved in NASCAR by virtue of his sponsored team, ThorSport
Mike's relationship with Dale Earnhardt Sr. dates back to the 1980s when he and his wife attended the 'Intimidator's' opening 1980 Cup race at Riverside. It was there that the idea of sponsoring Senior's campaign struck Curb's mind, and he became the championship-winning sponsor as Dale Sr. clinched his maiden Cup Series title.
Moving forward, Earnhardt Jr. asked Curb about his 'heavy' involvement in motorsports despite his age. The 79-year-old replied, emphasizing he would never stop unless the other party wished to. He said (via Dirty Mo Media).
"The idea that there's still things to do but more importantly all the people around me sort of depend on what I do. Think of all the people at JR Motorsports that depend on you having the willingness to keep going," Curb said (0:27).
Curb emphasized it's not the numbers that keep him going but the decades-old partnership that has grown substantially through the struggles. He outlined that he would stop his operations only if the partner made the first move.
"All the teams that I've been involved with 20, 25, 30 years, I don't want to stop unless they gonna stop," Curb said (1:48).
Dale Earnhardt's guest has sponsored cars in the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, Truck Series, IMSA GT Series, Late Model All American Series, and the K&N East and West Series, to name a few.

Ty Majeski clinched his career-first NASCAR title, registering ThorSport's third title from four championship races. The #98 Ford driver was the polesitter in the 150-lap battle, dominating 132 laps before parking his Truck in the victory lane.
Majeski etched his third win of the season and sixth of his career. The Ford driver kept himself among the frontrunners and nearly swept the entire race into his favor, but fell short in Stage 1 as Corey Heim took charge as the winner.
Nonetheless, after leading the final restart on Lap 123, the ThorSport driver kept extending his dominance to finish by a comfortable margin of almost four seconds over Heim.
Following the title, Mike Curb talked about matching feelings from Ralph, Earnhardt Jr.'s grandfather's Sportsman championship and Majeski's Truck title.
"I'm just as excited about Ralph Earnhardt winning the Sportsman championship in 1956 as I am about us winning with Ty Majeski in 2024," Curb said (1:41.49).
It's worth mentioning that Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s guest's Curb Racing fielded an entry for Richard 'King' Petty in 1984.
