NASCAR Cup Series driver, John Hunter Nemechek recently shared his top five worst on and off-track moments of the 2024 season.

Nemechek drove Legacy Motor Club's No. 42 car in the Cup Series this year and ended the season in the last rank, 34th of all full-time drivers. He had four top-10 finishes with a season-best sixth at Bristol.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, the 27-year-old talked about his five worst moments, which included the Daytona race.

"We’re leading the race, leading laps. Larson was pushing me, I got a little squirrely, and ended up spinning Tokyo Drift style. I saved it. Then, we were coming back through the field. Coming to the white flag, I was third in line on the outside, probably had a shot to win the race. I had a huge run created," John Hunter Nemechek said (00:52 onwards).
"I had Ty Gibbs behind me, another Toyota teammate. I pulled out of line coming to the start/finish line, one to go, to make it three wide. No one went with me. I guess I don’t have any friends out there. We ended up going from a chance to win the race to finishing like 15th or something," he added.

Nemechek shared his other worst moments, including a pit stop mistake that caused a fire and the hard crash at Indianapolis that ended what had been one of his best performances of the season.

Nemechek also talked about Kansas, where he worked his way from the back to the front but got a penalty for speeding by 1 mph and again a penalty for pit violations. Lastly, he mentioned the crew chief change in early October.

"We had a crew chief change. Man, it shook things up with just five races to go... But in the end, I think it all worked out," Nemechek said (03:50).

Legacy Motor Club made many changes in the last few months of the Cup Series and hired Brian Campe, who was the temporary crew chief for Nemcheck, as the technical director.

It also switched Nemcheck's crew chief, Ben Beshore to the No. 43 team.

"There's nothing better than having family" - John Hunter Nemechek on the best racetrack experiences

John Hunter Nemechek shared that his top experience was having his family at the racetrack. In the last segment of the video, he talked about his two daughters, Aspen and Penelope and family time during their travels with NASCAR.

"There's nothing better than having family at the racetrack, being able to share the experiences of being at the racetrack, some winning moments from the Xfinity Series. Being there on Sundays with my family—Taylor, my wife, Aspen and Penelope," John Hunter Nemechek said (07:40).

Nemechek will return to the Cup Series with Travis Mack as the new crew chief of the No. 42 team at Legacy Motor Club next season.
