Frankie Muniz has shared his thoughts on his tough NASCAR season following the Craftsman Truck Series’ stop at Kansas Speedway. He shows great enthusiasm for the sport despite dealing with adversities, such as a broken right rib injury.
Actor turned racecar driver Frankie Muniz is a 38-year-old New Jersey native who competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series. His recent outing in the No. 22 Reaume Brothers Racing Ford F-150 at the Kubota Tractor 200 saw him down five laps and finish in 29th.
Muniz took to X (formerly Twitter) and explained that he was dealing with an injury before practice sessions in Kansas.
“So hard to keep my head up. I can't help but feel completely cursed the way this year has gone in racing. Anytime and everything that could happen has happened. Broke my rib right before practice (too hard to explain how),” Muniz said.
During the start of the race, the driver cut a tire going into turn one. He believes his No. 22 Ford ran over something behind the pace car. In turn, the truck lost multiple laps and was out of contention in the first laps of the 134-lap race.
Regardless, Frankie Muniz remained optimistic and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to race in NASCAR.
“All that said, I have to trust this is all part of God’s plan. I trust the process he is putting me through, and I will not give up. I can’t thank my team enough @RBR_Teams, they work really hard and the luck will turn soon. Also @FordPerformance for believing in me,” Muniz stated.
The Malcolm in the Middle star concluded by saying:
“Now, I just hope all you guys stick with me through this tough run. It can't be fun to watch me struggling... Unless you dislike me... Then you must be loving seeing me suffer! Haha. I appreciate the love you all give and we'll be better at the next one.”
The Kubota Tractor 200 at Kansas marked his second start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Muniz’ debut in the series was at Nashville Superspeedway where he was down 20 laps and finished 31st.
Frankie Muniz was “disgusted” by the city of Los Angeles 23 minutes after landing
Earlier this month, Frankie Muniz expressed his disgust over Los Angeles not even an hour after landing. He called LA a “hell hole” despite spending several years filming his hit TV series Malcolm in the Middle in the city.
The now NASCAR driver wrote on X:
“I landed in Los Angeles 23 minutes ago and I'm already disgusted by this hell hole.”
His post garnered mixed reactions including positive and negative responses. One user wrote that Muniz can leave and no one will notice just like his acting career.
“So, leave! Just like your acting career, no one will notice when you’re gone," an X user said.
With Frankie Muniz working his way up in the NASCAR ranks, the former actor would be racing in different cities. Fortunately for him, the sport has no plans to return to LA after a three-year run at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
