Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife Amy Earnhardt shared an emotional tribute to the Sherry Strong Foundation at the Catwalk for a Cause event. In her latest Instagram post, Amy gave a glimpse into this year’s Catwalk, an event founded by Sherry Pollex who passed away a year ago.
Martin Truex Jr.'s former girlfriend, Pollex, created the Catwalk for a Cause in 2010 to fight cancer. She was diagnosed with advanced Stage 3 ovarian cancer four years later before passing on 17 September 2023.
Amy Earnhardt expressed how blessed she was to have met Pollex.
“Another lovely night celebrating these beautiful kids through #catwalkforacause . I am so blessed to have known Sherry Pollex and I know she was with us tonight. Thank you @lisacbacker @jillburgdoff @mtjfoundation 🫶🏻," Amy said.
Amy Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were seen walking on the runway along with a child in their formal attire. Amy and the child were wearing colorful dresses, while Earnhardt Jr. donned a suit.
The trio also had another walk where they were wearing semi-formal attire. Amy showcased a denim dress, while Dale and the child had checkered motifs on their outfits.
The event was also graced by other NASCAR drivers/couples like Christopher Bell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Joey and Brittany Baca Logano, who walked on the runway in wedding-esque outfits with a young lady in a long floral dress. Kyle and Katelyn Larson wore casual attire while escorting a child in a pink dress.
The goal is to empower children with a cancer diagnosis by turning them into the “star of the show for one night”, according to Sherry Strong. Since its founding in 2010, the cause has raised over $5 million.
Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, host of the Catwalk for a Cause, extended its gratitude to all participants on Instagram, saying:
“We want to thank all of our 2024 Catwalk for a Cause participants! We couldn’t do it without you!”
MTJ Foundation was founded by Martin Truex Jr. and his ex-partner Sherry Pollex in 2007. It's goal is to raise awareness and generate financial support for underfunded cancer initiatives relating to ovarian and childhood cancers.
Amy Earnhardt once interviewed Dale Earnhardt Jr. after catching fire at Bristol
During a post-race interview at the 2023 Food City 300 in Bristol, Amy Earnhardt interviewed Dale Earnhardt Jr. after his car caught on fire. She blatantly told the driver that he smelled "terrible" due to having the lower leg area of his race suit burned.
"You smell terrible by the way. You smell like a fire. What happened?" Amy Earnhardt asked.
The driver told the interviewer that the shifter tunnel column was on fire. When he saw the smoke, he had to pull over to the pit and get out. The North Carolina native had some help climbing out of the car, albeit the crew was from John Hunter Nemechek's pit.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be returning at the Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. According to the driver, the race could "probably" be his last. For now, what's certain is that he will focus more on Late Model Racing.
