Keelan Harvick once had a fitting ask from his father, Kevin Harvick, in return for his iRacing showdown victory. 12-year-old Harvick Junior is a regular at online racing competitions, and he uses this opportunity to race against his racing driver father.

Before one such race in 2021, Keelan said he does not ask much in return, even if he wins - just a simple day off from school.

The Harvick father and son duo appeared for an interview with NASCAR HUB Live on Fox, where they talked about racing against each other in iRacing. They started with a discussion on "trash-talking," where Kevin revealed how his son has been keeping ahead of him.

"I'm still trying to get mine turned on, and he's been practicing for three days. So, he told me, 'Dad, I don't even know what server are we gonna be on, but my Crew Chief and I, we're gonna do our own thing. So, we don't have to listen to you during the race,'" he said.

The hosts of the show then picked their side, and it was the Junior Harvick for them. They said they were ready to root for the young man.

"Okay I'll try to win for you," Keelan Harvick replied.

Considering this, the former NASCAR driver said:

"He [Keelan Harvick] has no intentions of not winning tonight. What are all these guys going to say when I beat him tonight?"

However, Keelan was determined to win the race. As he saw the hosts root for him, he asked for his prize for winning the race.

"I like the day off of school."

Keelan is already a racing sensation. The son of the 60-time Cup Series race winner has won multiple races across short tracks. On top of this, the racing prodigy also competes in the National Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram 250, under the zMax CARS Tour.

Kevin Harvick termed racing against his son a lifetime opportunity

Given Keelan Harvick's age and experience, it was not possible for Kevin Harvick to race against his son on track. Instead, they took the iRacing opportunity to fulfill their wish.

The former NASCAR driver termed it a lifetime opportunity.

"For me, this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to race against Keelan in an actual race, on a great platform that only iRacing could present to the two of us. So, it just really shows that NASCAR is a great family sport. Looking forward to hopefully passing on my racing from one generation to the next,” he said.

Kevin is heavily invested in his son's racing career. Meanwhile, Keelan seems to be taking the family's racing legacy forward as he grows up.
