Amy Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife, once dismissed her husband’s favorite sandwich on live television. On the Dan Patrick Show in 2017, Amy said people should stop making Dale’s go-to sandwich, which wasbanana and mayonnaise.

For the uninitiated, Dale Earnhardt Jr. married his longtime girlfriend Amy Reimann in 2017. The couple met after the former NASCAR Cup Series driver contracted Amy and her interior designing firm to redesign his Kannapolis home in 2009.

When Amy was asked about her husband’s favorite sandwich in 2017, she initially couldn’t recall it, before answering ‘turkey and buffalo sauce.’

“Clearly I’m not making this,” Amy Earnhardt said with a bit of a chuckle. [14:28]

After Dale told her to dig deeper, she said:

“Well, the sandwich I’m making […] got turkey and buffalo sauce on it.” [14:33]

Amy then remembered her husband’s favorite sandwich but told viewers on live TV not to make one.

“Oh banana mayonnaise?! Yeah, don’t make that. I don’t like those.” [14:38]

Dale Earnhardt Jr. argued people residing in the southern region of the US knew what a banana mayonnaise sandwich was but weren’t fond of it.

“I think people in the south, Atlanta, New Orleans, I had all kinds of people that knew what it was but anybody north of Virginia or west of Mississippi thought it was the worst idea in the world,” the now-50-year-old driver said. [14:48].

The Q&A portion regarding Dale's favorite sandwich concluded by discussing King of Rock and Roll and Mississippi native Elvis Presley’s love for an even more intriguing sandwich.

“Elvis ate banana mayo peanut butter… fried. Deep fry the whole sandwich,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Pound of bacon too. He had a pound of bacon sandwich that he deep fry. That’s no joke.” [15:06]

Today, Dale and Amy Earnhardt share two daughters - Isla Rose, 6, and Nicole Lorraine, who turned four years old recently.

On track, the 26-time Cup race winner oversees the operations at JR Motorsports. He will also become a NASCAR commentator for Amazon and TNT Sports next year.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wanted to celebrate his 50th birthday camping with the family

Earlier this year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took to X and shared his wishes for his 50th birthday. The former driver said he wanted to camp with his wife and two daughters instead of throwing a big party.

In an X reply to Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis, the North Carolina native said:

“Ok. Deal. I turn 50 this year and instead of a big party, I’ve decided to create some memories instead. Camping with the family is on that list.”

The statement followed a post in February where Earnhardt Jr. was looking to buy a fifth wheel bunkhouse for his two kids, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine. The post got a reply from Lemonis, saying he would give away an RV if the former purchases one.

A month later, Dale bought a 2024 Keystone Cougar 364BHL Midnight Edition RV. He shared that the RV would be used to make memories with his family.
