Ahead of the Round of 8 playoff race, Kyle Larson opened up on his next visit to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 2021 Cup Series champion has previously found success several times on the track and is the defending race winner at the 1.5-mile Nevada asphalt.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver is currently one of the top contenders for the 2024 Cup Series championship. With a total of six wins, of which two were in the playoffs, the #5 Chevy driver has asserted his dominance amongst his peers this season.

In a recent conversation, Hendrick's star Larson shared an optimistic response while talking about his next visit to the first race of the next playoff round. Moreover, he mentioned that in the last two out of his three races, he secured a spot in Championship 4 because of his triumphs in the opening race of the Round of 8. He said (via FOX40):

"I would love to go there(Las Vegas) and win. And kind of know that you’re racing for a championship. The two times that I’ve gotten to be in the Final Four we’ve won the opening race. Would love to do that next week, but obviously really, really tough."

Apart from last season's victory at the South Point 400 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Elk Grove native started his playoff campaign with a win at the same track for the 2024 Pennzoil 400 event.

Can Kyle Larson replicate Tony Stewart's 2011 Cup Series championship feat?

In a post-race interaction after securing his sixth win of the season, Kyle Larson shed light on his chances of recreating the commendable feat by three-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart in 2011.

Former SHR driver Stewart won five out of the 10 playoff races while on his way to life his third championship title. When asked about the possibility of the Rick Hendrick driver Larson replicating the same feat, the 32-year-old said:

"I don’t know. I would like to have three at this point because I feel like maybe you could win a couple more, but yeah, it’s really tough. I think in the Next Gen era, it’s just harder to win races in general. Yes, we’ve won six races this year, which is great, but yeah, it’s just hard to execute Next Gen races. They’re just wild and all that." [28:30]

Apart from having a history of winning at Las Vegas, Larson has also triumphed in the second Round of 8 Homestead in 2022 and Martinsville last year. With such momentum, a NASCAR veteran has placed his bets on the Hendrick's star and picked him as his favorite to win the upcoming race.

Catch Larson live in action for the South Point 400 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 20 at 2:30 pm ET.
