Just as Alex Bowman mentioned in his post-race interview, he celebrated his Chicago win in high spirits, admitting to Dale Earnhardt Jr. that he was on day two of a hangover. Having come out of an 80-race winless streak since his last victory in Las Vegas in 2022, Bowman was set on marking the occasion with a significant celebration.
During his post-race interview, Bowman declared:
"We are gonna drink so much Burbon tonight. It's gonna be a bad deal. I am probably gonna wake up naked on the bathroom floor again."
However, when Kevin Harvick inquired whether the HMS driver celebrated as wildly as he'd told, Bowman revealed that his actual celebration was considerably more low-key, mentioning he woke up in his bed like a normal person. Bowman, reflecting on his personal growth over the years, noted that he had meetings to attend the next day.
But when Dale Earnhardt Jr. checked in to see how he was doing, Bowman couldn't keep his celebratory escapades under wraps and admitted:
"I'm on day 2 of Hangover, so we're here, but yeah, definitely a great weekend for us and to finally snap the winless street."
When Earnhardt Jr. pressed further to find out if Bowman remembered exactly how much Bourbon he had drunk, the latter admitted:
"Yeah, don't really remember, if we’re being honest. Yeah, honestly, probably less than expected. I knew how bad yesterday I was gonna hurt, especially. We still had a lot of meetings [in person]."
Bowman then mentioned that he wasn't sure if he reeked of alcohol, but Chase Elliott, who was next to him during the meetings, might have a better idea. Nonetheless, Bowman added:
"I still can't smell much of anything. I feel like I am dying still."
Despite the festivities, Alex Bowman also confessed that he hasn’t been too impressed with the Bourbon brand they had lately.
"They kind of let me down," says Alex Bowman about his favorite Bourbon brand
After conquering the Chicago Street Race, Alex Bowman planned on celebrating his victory by enjoying Pani wine from his preferred Bourbon brand, which he had stocked up on since his last victory in 2022.
Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite meet his expectations. During a chat on Kevin Harvick’s Harvick's Happy Hour podcast, Bowman discussed his favorite drink, Weller Antique 107 [via NASCAR on Fox]:
"There were two bottles of Papi that had this massive anticipation and they kind of let me down a little bit. My favorite, I like Weller Antique 107, [its] my go-to so yeah I don't feel that good right now." [at 8:15]
His recent win in Chicago boosted Alex Bowman from P13 to P11 in the regular season driver standings.
