NASCAR is set to investigate Carson Hocevar's actions after his incident with Wood Brothers Racing driver Harrison Burton in the Cup Series race at Nashville Speedway. Burton suffered his second DNF of the season following the incident.

The NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 race was a spectacle of chaos for various reasons. The race, which saw two-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano win his first Cup race in over a year, also featured a staggering 13 DNFs, 31 extra laps, 15 cautions, and a record 5 overtimes over the course of 331 laps.

While the outcome of the race was monumental for Logano, the same could not be said about Harrison Burton. After a major incident with Spire Motorsports driver and Cup Series rookie Carson Hocevar, Burton registered his first DNF of the campaign since the season-opening Daytona 500 race.

The controversy ignited on Lap 243 when Hocevar spun Burton under yellow flag conditions. This incident followed Brad Keselowski’s severe spin into the wall, which triggered the race’s tenth caution. Hocevar’s No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro was caught bumping into the rear of Burton’s No. 21 Ford Mustang, causing Burton to spin down the backstretch.

Although Burton managed to avoid substantial damage, the incident sparked outrage. Over the radio, a furious Burton exclaimed:

"I'm f***ing over. I'm done with it. He just wrecked me under caution because I blocked him on the backstretch. He can kiss my ass."

Despite the clear frustration from Burton, Hocevar evaded immediate punishment, prompting further scrutiny from NASCAR officials.

However, according to Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass, NASCAR is now set to investigate the incident thoroughly to determine whether Carson Hocevar should face penalties. Notably, this isn’t the first time Hocevar has been under the microscope; the 21-year-old driver has previously garnered a reputation for aggressive racing during his stint in the Truck Series last season.

Harrison Burton livid over Carson Hocevar in post-race interview

In a post-race interview, Harrison Burton did not hold back his grievances. Highlighting Hocevar's antics and the reason his actions stemmed from, Burton told Frontstretch:

"I don’t know, he blocks everyone every week. I blocked him once and he decided to try and wreck me under yellow. He’s on a lot of people’s lists as guys they don’t like racing. So it kind of shows why."

Harrison Burton is ranked 33rd in the NASCAR Cup Series standings after 19 races. The Wood Brothers Racing driver is 447 points behind the playoff cutline and is virtually disqualified.

Meanwhile, Carson Hocevar, in his first season with Spire Motorsports, is 22nd with 343 points to his name. He has had two top-10 finishes so far this season.
