During his time as a NASCAR driver, Joey Logano made numerous rivals in the sport. In 2010, he got involved with Ryan Newman in an on-track skirmish, which later turned into a verbal scuffle after the race. As the heated exchange found pace, Newman got involved in a "teaching" session to a much younger Logano.

The Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, hosted the 2010 Carfax 400 on 15 August 2010. It was the 23rd race of the season and was won by Kevin Harvick of Richard Childress Racing. However, it was Logano and Newman who made all the headlines because of their post-race scuffle.

On Lap 148 of the race, Newman and Logano collided after Newman tried to pass him, but to no avail. Logano, who was racing with Joe Gibbs Racing that season, was driving the #20 Chevrolet. He tagged Newman from behind and this resulted in the #39 driver turning sideways and bringing in the third caution flag.

Soon after the race, the duo got involved in a heated exchange. The nearly two minutes of verbal exchange had both drivers blame each other for the collision.

"Just learn how to drive," Newman told Logano.
"Dude, give someone an inch man," replied Logano.
"No, I gave you a whole race track, the race track's 80-feet wide, you can't even pass them," Newman further added.

When the verbal exchange was turning out to be a physical altercation between the duo, NASCAR officials intervened. Following this, Newman added one last dig to Logano. He said,

"I'm good. I'm just trying to teach a little kid how to drive."

Well, Joey Logano is not a young driver anymore. He matured through the sport, raked in two championships already, qualified for the playoffs, and eyeing his third coming into the 2024 Cup Series season.

Desperate time calls for desperate measures for Joey Logano as the Team Penske driver referred to the playoff elimination as the bear-chasing situation. Logano is hunting for his third NASCAR Cup Series championship, and at this point, he cannot afford slip-ups.

The current #22 driver used the "running from a bear" analogy as a metaphor for his current situation. He said:

"You always find another gear when you need it right," Logano stated. "You never know how fast you can run until you're running from a bear right? Or something that's trying to eat you right? Then you know what you got right? So playoffs are kind of like that bear chasing you right?"

However, Logano is safe for now as he qualified for the Round of 12 following his Quaker State 400 Available At Walmart victory at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on 9 September.
