NASCAR driver AJ Allmendinger's wife Tara Allmendinger recently shared a heartfelt post on her social media, remembering the first time she met Allmendinger. The couple has been married for nearly five years, as they tied the knot in December 2019.
The Kaulig Racing driver pilots the #16 Chevrolet Camaro, competing full-time in the Xfinity Series. In a career spanning 17 years, 'The Dinger' has secured 21 race victories across the Xfinity and Cup Series. His most recent triumph came in NASCAR's top division in the 2023 Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In a recent post, Tara reflected on the first time she met her husband, AJ Allmendinger, more than a decade ago. Alongside the heartfelt message, she shared pictures of her and AJ with their son at Watkins Glen International. She wrote on X:
"Eleven years and an Aero James later, I'm still with the guy I met in Indianapolis with my sister, who told me he was a professional bowler."
AJ and Tara first met at the 2014 Indy 500, eventually marrying in a beautiful ceremony at Murray's Mill in Catawba, North Carolina. In September 2023, they welcomed their first child, Aero James Allmendinger. Currently sitting P5 in the Xfinity Series standings, AJ has yet to secure a win this season but holds a solid position for entering the 2024 playoffs, heading into the final regular-season race.
“He deserved the win”: AJ Allmendinger hails Connor Zilisch’s performance at Watkins Glen
Connor Zilisch has gained immense popularity and fame for his recent performance at Watkins Glen International. AJ Allmendinger also commended Zilisch for his impeccable results last weekend.
Zilisch secured pole position in the General Tire 100 in the ARCA Series race at Watkins Glen and eventually grabbed his fifth race win in the series in six race starts. However, his triumph did not end there. The 18-year-old mirrored his ARCA performance in the Xfinity Series, where he again started in pole position and went on to win the Mission 200 at the Glen.
Following an outstanding weekend for Zilisch, AJ, who secured a P3 finish in the Xfinity race on Saturday, praised the youngster for his exemplary display of talent.
"Just his car control is phenomenal when... Obviously the junior motorsports cars in general got a lot of speed in it. I can see he had so much lateral grip. You know, as a driver, when you have that, you have confidence so that allowed them to just flow so much speed in," AJ said.
"To see if he can make a mistake, make him make a mistake, but he didn't. You know, he deserved the win for several reasons because he's the fastest guy here and then he did the best on the restart. Um, Yeah, I mean, right guy’s in victory lane," he added.
Connor Zilisch will join Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports, piloting the #88 Chevrolet for his debut full-time season in the Xfinity Series in 2025.
