Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently shared his experience of the bars of Ireland from his recent vacation. Dale Jr. was joined by his friend and country musician Tim Dugger on the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download.
Speaking about his experience in Ireland, the NASCAR Hall of Famer shared a story about his friends and him visiting a pub and ending up having lunch and dinner there.
Dale Jr. revealed that all they changed was tables and not bars, making a case against bar-hopping.
"I don't mind bar-hopping. But bar-hopping can take a little bit out of you. And sometimes you get to the second or third bar and you think, 'You know damn, I liked the first one better,'" Junior said.
This led Dugger to reveal how long they sat in one particular bar, drinking throughout, which led the bartender to give them what Dugger felt was a huge compliment.
"What I was impressed with is we had sat there for seven hours, six-seven hours, and so when we closed out, the bartender is like, 'I'm really impressed.' He's like, 'I'm surprised y'all can stand.' I feel like if the Irish compliment your drinking you've done good," Dugger said.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. warmed up to iconic Irish beer after his recent trip
While Dale Earnhardt Jr. is known to be an avid beer drinker, the driver shared that only recently did he start to appreciate the iconic Guinness beer. The change in perspective happened during his recent trip to Ireland:
"I've never really been a Guiness drinker, never. I thought it was thick as motoroil. If you've never drank it, it looks like its super thick. That's all I drank, Guiness, the whole time," he said.
Dale Jr. revealed he had thought that drinking Guinness would fill him up, but he was left surprised by how light it felt.
"It's kinda light, and it doesn't taste bad at all," Dale Jr. said.
Interestingly, he learned, as Tim Dugger revealed, that drinking Guinness makes one "really gassy." This prompted Dale Jr. to recall a funny incident he had with his wife Amy at the airport after his Ireland trip.
"We were at the airport in Charlotte, getting our bags, and Amy says, 'I smell somebody's bottom, I'm like, 'Amy, I am literally farting every 30 seconds.' And she's like, 'What? How long that has been going on?' I'm like, '4 days,'" Junior said.
It's worth mentioning that Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s favorite beer is Bud Select 55. In fact, he claimed earlier this year that he gets "a lot of s**t" from his friends for drinking 55s, and that they ask him to not even talk about that beer.
However, Junior has said he loves it so much that feels no shame in talking about it.
