Pollex passed away at the age of 44 on September 17, 2023, leaving the entire NASCAR community in mourning. A beloved figure in the sport, Pollex had worked as a PR representative and was widely recognized for her tireless effort in raising awareness and funds for cancer patients.
One year after Sherry Pollex's passing, Kelley Earnhardt shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, expressing how deeply she missed Pollex and how much she cherished the memories they shared. The caption on her post read:

Sherry Pollex and Martin Truex Jr. began dating when Truex drove for Chance 2 Motorsports in the Busch (now Xfinity) Series, a team owned by Dale Jr., Kelley Earnhardt's brother. Pollex was by Truex's side through many of the key milestones in his NASCAR career.
She was the founder and president of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, which she helped establish in 2007 to support children fighting pediatric cancer. Since 2010, the MTJ Foundation has hosted the annual Catwalk for a Cause fundraiser, raising funds for children battling cancer.
Sherry Pollex was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2014 and bravely battled through multiple recurrences. Pollex and Truex Jr. were honored with the Myers Brothers Award in 2017. She was posthumously honored with the Myers Brothers Award in 2023, for her contributions to NASCAR, and her charitable efforts.
