Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy recently looked back on their busy end to 2024. Junior, who turned 50 in October last year, decided to take several trips and travel more instead of partying at home.
Dale Jr. and Amy recently went back and forth on their travels, how it affected her, and where Amy is with regard to the idea of being outdoors at this point in her life. The couple are parents to two daughters.
Speaking on his podcast show, Dale Jr. mentioned that he and his wife had a pretty busy holiday season, which turned out to be quite dynamic. He described:
"It was my 50th birthday in Ocotber and we went a little extra hard in travelling, in going and seeing things. I didn't want to party. I wanted experiences. So we went to Europe a couple of times, down at Mexico, in Cabo, we were all over."
This prompted Amy to add that every trip they made was in itself 'a little bit of a party' as well, after which she realized she needed a break for herself. Junior claimed that to be the difference in their personalities. He said that when they first met, Amy held her own and withstood any amount of partying.
Amy remarked that she's not only eight years younger than Dale Jr., but also has had two kids.
"I can't even do it. I can't. I feel like my wheels just fall off. And I need to go into a dark closet and hide from everybody for a couple of days. That's what it feels like. We get home and you're like, 'What are we doing tomorrow?' Nothing. I don't even want anyone to speak to me tomorrow," she added.
Amy lets Dale Earnhardt Jr. play video games for one particular reason
In an appearance on a Dirty Mo Media podcast recently, Amy Earnhardt addressed a fan's question on the Ask Jr. segment of the show. The fan wanted to ask the NASCAR Hall of Famer's wife for tips to convince his wife to let him play video games.
During her answer, Amy revealed how her husband's liking towards video games is something she approves of considering what it enables. She claimed that while she makes fun of Dale Earnhardt Jr. being a passionate video gamer, it's also the hobby that 'keeps him off the street.' She elaborated:
"I’m not so mad about it but he does it while I’m sleepy…It keeps him in the home, even before we ever got married and had kids, I was like at least he’s not on the street."
Amy even revealed that Dale Earnhardt Jr. plays video games while she's asleep. The two are some of the most popular couples in motorsports and engage regularly in several track-related events. Dale Jr. is also a part-time racing driver in the Xfinity Series.
