Kevin Harvick recently shared his take on Kyle Busch's disappointing run of results in NASCAR. Busch, winless so far this year, is currently battling for a place in the playoffs and has had four DNF finishes in his last seven races.
Speaking about this on the Happy Hour podcast, Kevin Harvick claimed Busch is at a point this season where nothing is going right for him.
The former NASCAR driver remarked that the RCR driver is having issue after issue and his car simply isn't fast enough.
"When things go well, he gets caught in somebody else's mess. Nothing is going right for Kyle Busch, and most of the time recently, they haven't had the speed to do what they need to make up for that. That's the difference between the #20 and the #11 and some of these other cars that are having issues—they have the speed, and that keeps the confidence level high. What a terrible position he's in. I don't see a win anywhere in sight," Harvick said. [14:15]
Harvick credited Busch for having a maturity level to not "get himself buried" in his post-race interviews. It's worth mentioning that after contact with Corey LaJoie ended his race prematurely at Pocono, Busch kept his thoughts mostly to himself in front of the mic and refused to elaborate on the incident with great detail of emotion or information.
But the opinion that the 2x Cup champion couldn't win a race wasn't only held by Kevin Harvick.
Denny Hamlin doesn't think Kyle Busch can get a well-earned win with the current state of the #8 car
Kyle Busch's former teammate Denny Hamlin recently commented on the #8 driver's lack of speed this season and what it could lead to. Whilst talking on Actions Detrimental about Busch, the #11 driver explained why the RCR driver may not win a race this season in a legitimate way.
"Can he win a race? Yes, absolutely, but not legitimately. He's not going to win one legitimately, and that's just a fact," Hamlin claimed.
Having said that, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver complimented Busch for being an elite driver. But he also remarked that in order to win a race, a driver has to consistently run in the top 5, something Busch simply hasn't been able to do a lot of this year because of a lack of speed.
Currently, Kyle Busch is sitting below Bubba Wallace and Chase Briscoe in the playoff standings. And the closest he has come to a win this year was all the way back at the start of the season in Atlanta. Since that race in February, Busch has finished inside the top 5 only once (Dover) and has had four finishes inside the top 10.
Yet despite these results, Busch has been far better than his RCR teammate Austin Dillon who has had zero finishes inside the top 5 and only a couple inside the top 10.
