NASCAR veteran and analyst Kenny Wallace feels that SHR co-owner Tony Stewart "is over" from the sport and is more focused on drag racing. This comes amidst rumors of the Cup Series team selling their charters to other teams.

Tony Stewart and Gene Haas have worked together since 2009 and kept Stewart-Haas Racing up and competing in the sport. They won the Cup Series championship twice, in 2011 with Stewart and then again in 2014 with Kevin Harvick. The latter also brought the team their most recent victory in 2022 at Richmond.

Although the team is still running in the Cup Series, rumors of SHR selling their charters to other teams have arisen. Both Tony Stewart and Gene Haas haven't been attending the races regularly, too. Stewart has been focusing on his drag racing team, and Gene's Haas F1 team has been making positive developments, too.

Kenny Wallace, in his recent YouTube video, claimed that Stewart "is over" from NASCAR and is more focused on drag racing. He said:

"I think Tony's over. I think, it appears, it appears he's in love with Leah. They said they're going to try to have a baby so she quit drag racing to have the baby." [6:07 onwards]
"Tony seems to really like drag racing. I mean he's got he's wearing the flat bill, he's got the whole West Coast deal going on, he's kicking ass. I mean the great Tony Stewart is a drag racer and he's legit or as they say too legit to quit."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. doesn't want Tony Stewart to "leave NASCAR entirely" amidst rumors

Earnhardt Jr. expressed his opinion on rumors of Stewart leaving the sport. It was speculated that the team might be selling off their charters to different teams including the likes of Front Row Motorsports and 23XI Racing. The latter is co-owned by Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Earnhardt Jr. spoke on the Dale Jr Download podcast about the estimated range of the charters. He said:

"I heard that their range is $20 million to $30 million, for a charter. I know one sold for $40 million, but from everything that I’ve learned, the true value is not near $40 million." [1:13:10]
"So yeah, $20M to $25M is more in the ballpark of what I think they should be going for. The question is, will Stewart-Haas sell all four of them? Does Tony Stewart and [Gene] Haas get out entirely? Holy s***, that would be weird."

While the reports are growing, he further mentioned that he does not want Stewart to leave the sport entirely because he remains an "icon" of motorsport.

"I don’t want to speculate. But I hope that Tony Stewart doesn’t leave NASCAR entirely. That would suck. I just think he’s an icon. He’s a motorsports icon. Done it all."
