Former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick had been actively campaigning for President-elect Donald Trump over the past few months. The 42-year-old ex-racer took a jibe at Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for allegedly splurging on Megan Thee Stallion during the 2024 presidential campaign.
A trailblazer for women racers around the world, Patrick began her career with open-wheel racing in Europe. After winning multiple accolades in the old continent, she shifted to IndyCar racing in 2005. Patrick later moved to NASCAR in 2012. In her debut season in NASCAR in 2013, she became the first female racer to qualify in pole position and lead laps during the legendary Daytona 500 race.
After a successful racing career of about two decades, Patrick became an analyst and pundit for NBC and Sky Sports F1 respectively. The Wisconsin-born racer also became actively involved in politics, campaigning for the Republican nominee for about a year.
With Trump now confirmed as the president-elect, Patrick took a subtle jibe at Harris for allegedly spending $5 million on rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion for her performance during the Democrat's election campaign.
The former Daytona 500 pole-sitter reposted a video of Stallion's performance on X with the caption:
"All the events, rally’s, interviews, social posts….. I did for free. Actually spent a fair amount on wardrobe. ☺️ But to be fair, I can’t twerk so…. It all adds up."
Patrick also shared an Instagram story about how much she was paid by Trump's team:
"I'm doing this because I love this country" - Danica Patrick on why she chose to campaign for Donald Trump
Danica Patrick was an active member of Republican President-elect Donald Trump's campaign for over a year. The Wisconsin-born racer explained why she chose the former US President over Kamala Harris during her speech at a rally in Pennsylvania in November.
"I never went to a Diddy party. I'm doing this because I love this country and there's nobody that’s been tested more than Trump," Patrick said.
"We're not living in a time of Republican versus Democrat, we're living in good vs evil. We're living in right vs wrong. And I want to be on the right side of that history because this is the most important decision we will see in our life - getting Donald Trump into office," she added.
Patrick will be resuming her F1 pundit role with Sky Sports F1 during the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend from November 21st to 23rd.
