Hendrick Motorsports' Chase Elliott is one of the most popular NASCAR drivers, on and off the track. Elliott recently shared an untold story about his dating life, which he labeled one of his worst dating experiences.
Son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliot, "Awesome Chase from the same place", as he is sometimes referred to, followed in his father's footsteps and became a professional stock car racing driver.
In his Cup Series career spanning ten years, Elliot has been crowned champion once (in 2020) and has secured 19 race wins. Moreover, he also won the Xfinity Series title in 2014 and was the Cup Series regular season champion in 2022.
Recently, Chase Elliott looked back at one of his worst experiences while on a date. He said (via @nascarpod on Instagram):
"There was a particular female, that wanted to go to a regional baseball game. And I was like, 'Well, I'll get the tickets, meet you there' and she was like, 'No, I'll get the tickets,' I was like okay."
"Instead of meeting me prior to the game, I got an email with the ticket. Come to find out, I watched like half the game by myself. Luckily, she showed up but that had potential to be top of the list [...] Still pretty bad though, but It was a great ballgame," Elliott added.
Elliott is currently rumored to be dating Ashley Anderson. Although neither of them has formally addressed their relationship, Ashley has been seen cheering for Elliott at several NASCAR events. Additionally, both have shared pictures with each other on their social media accounts.
Chase Elliott pilots the #9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for HMS, competing full-time in the Cup Series. He is currently P2 in the driver standings, with eleven top-ten and seven top-five finishes. Moreover, Elliott emerged victorious at the Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year and clinched his spot in the playoffs.
Elton Sawyer comments on Chase Elliott-Brad Keselowski blend line violation at IMS
On the 25th lap of the Brickyard 400, HMS drivers Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson went down pit road. After their stop, both drivers entered the acceleration lane, where Elliott turned his car out of the tow white lines, placing all four of his tires on the racing surface. Larson however, only placed half his car outside that line.
As per NASCAR's blend line regulations, drivers are not allowed to cross the acceleration lane's line without completely entering the racing surface. NASCAR ruled Elliot's move as illegal and sanctioned a penalty against him.
NASCAR's Senior VP of Competition Elton Sawyer commented on his penalty via a conversation with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
"As you look at the video, it basically says that you have to stay in the acceleration lane as you’re exiting until you exit turn 2 and then you blend up on the racetrack [...] We didn’t get a lot of questions back on the information that went out to the teams, so we felt like we were in a pretty good place."
This was Chase Elliott's second consecutive penalty in a Cup Series race, following a penalty at Pocono. The #9 driver was sanctioned with a pass-through penalty at IMS, which led to a P10 finish.
